LYS African Hair Braiding is a professional hair braiding salon.Role OverviewWe are seeking a creative, organized, and people-first Social Media and Marketing Coordinator to help grow student enrollment, workshop attendance, and salon services. This role combines hands-on marketing execution, paid advertising, website management, vendor coordination, student support, and community engagement. You&rsquo;ll also serve as a key point of contact for students and clients, helping them move smoothly from first inquiry to enrollment or booking.This is an entry-level position with clear opportunities for growth into Social Media and Marketing Specialist or Manger as you demonstrate results.What You&rsquo;ll DoMarketing &amp; Campaigns<ul><li>Plan and implement marketing strategies to grow student enrollment, workshop/event attendance, continuing education, and salon clients.</li><li>Conduct campaigns through various media channels (social, web, print, email) to promote programs and services.</li><li>Draft, edit, and schedule marketing communications for media placement in a variety of channels.</li><li>Develop and execute promotions for the salon (new and returning clients).</li><li>Manage content calendars across social, email, and website.</li><li>Write and coordinate email campaigns, social posts, blogs, and other assets.</li><li>Evaluate and analyze content marketing metrics to identify trending topics, audiences, and strategy improvements.</li><li>Assist in quality control of marketing data and materials; generate and distribute reports.</li><li>Monitor and analyze social media channels and campaigns; provide actionable solutions for enrollment growth.</li></ul>Paid Advertising<ul><li>Plan, build, and optimize Google Ads and Facebook/Instagram Ads campaigns.</li><li>Conduct keyword research, manage negative keyword lists, and refine targeting.</li><li>Create and update ad creatives (copy, images, video snippets)</li><li>Build and optimize landing pages in Wix for conversions.</li></ul>Vendor &amp; Partner Management<ul><li>Research potential vendors for advertising, printing, events, branding, and graphic design;</li><li>Reach out to vendors to request quotes, proposals, or service details.</li><li>Evaluate vendor fit based on cost, quality, and alignment with school/salon needs.</li><li>Maintain records of vendor contacts, proposals, and recommendations.</li><li>Support leadership in vendor selection and ongoing coordination.</li></ul>Events &amp; Community Engagement<ul><li>Help coordinate and promote events and webinars for LYS.</li><li>Manage event marketing calendars, communications, and follow-ups.</li><li>Capture leads during events (via Microsoft Forms or QR codes) and track through CRM.</li><li>Support community partnerships with local schools, salons, and organizations.</li></ul>Sales, Enrollment &amp; Student Support<ul><li>Monitor and facilitate the workflow of prospective students from first contact through enrollment; provide regular reports.</li><li>Create and maintain a SharePoint for students site.</li><li>Conduct outreach to prospects via email, phone, and social to qualify leads and schedule discovery calls/tours.</li><li>Respond to new inquiries; schedule tours via Microsoft Bookings.</li><li>Welcome prospective students during tours; explain programs, tuition, and next steps.</li><li>Run a follow-up sequence until enroll or opt-out.</li><li>Serve as a critical point of contact for students, answering questions and supporting retention via phone, chat, email, or text.</li><li>Maintain CRM/lead tracker records in Excel or CRM software.</li></ul>Research, Benchmarking &amp; Innovation<ul><li>Conduct competitive benchmarking of other schools, salons, and programs to identify opportunities.</li><li>Review and analyze campaign, program, service, and event effectiveness to guide marketing direction, segmentation, and targeting.</li><li>Continuously identify and suggest improvements in marketing, communication, and student support.</li><li>Flag new program or service opportunities based on student/client feedback.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned to support overall goals.</li></ul>You Are<ul><li>Organized and detail-oriented; skilled at managing multiple calendars and projects.</li><li>Strong communicator across phone, email, social, and in-person.</li><li>Familiarity with managing paid advertising</li><li>Tech-savvy</li><li>Experience in marketing, social media, email campaigns, and analytics.</li><li>Comfortable reaching out to and coordinating with external vendors.</li><li>Some exposure to CRM systems (HubSpot or similar).</li><li>Familiarity with Google Ads, Meta Ads Google Analytics, SEO/SEM</li></ul>Job Type: Part-timePay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>Employee discount</li></ul>Work Location: Hybrid remote in Chicago, IL 60636
