<div>M&amp;S Engineering, LLC seeks qualified candidates that are highly organized, energetic, self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as a team for the non-exempt position of Senior Electric Distribution Designer. The position will produce electric distribution field designs, staking of distribution facilities, project estimation and preparation of construction prints using electronic design/estimation software in accordance with the client&rsquo;s standards of construction and specifications.
This position will report to the office and is not remote.
Requirements Include:
<ul><li>Six (6) years&rsquo; prior experience with electric distribution design and estimation.</li>
<li>Strong background in both overhead and underground electric distribution line design, standards of construction and design guidelines.</li>
<li>Must possess a High school diploma or equivalent, ability to pass background check and drug screening and possess a current Texas Driver&rsquo;s License with an insurable driving record.</li>
</ul>
Required Duties and Responsibilities Include:
<ul><li>Ability to represent self professionally in both M&amp;S and the client&rsquo;s image while meeting with property owners, other engineering firms and construction resources.</li>
<li>Ability to stay abreast with the changing technologies, work planning, and design methodologies associated with Electric Distribution Design.</li>
<li>Ability to mentor and/or train others staff members to transfer personal design knowledge to others.</li>
<li>Proficient with the design of both overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.</li>
<li>Recognition of electric distribution framing and components 4kV through 35kV, to initiate designs for construction or reconstruction of both overhead and underground distribution facilities.</li>
<li>Use of electronic design/estimation software to prepare cost estimates using unitized labor and material units, work instructions and construction sketches as detailed by client.</li>
<li>Use of surveying equipment and gathering of geospatial points.</li>
<li>Ability to interpret and apply the NESC to electric distribution line design.</li>
<li>Ability to provide all information and interpret the processes for permit acquisition involving TxDOT, City, County, State and Federal applications.</li>
<li>Ability to perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, geometric angle calculations, conductor sag interpretation, unitized framing design, construction practices and construction safety guidelines using industry tools and methods.</li>
<li>Ability to take personal responsibility for the quality, accuracy and time constraints of work product.</li>
<li>Possess strong analytical and technical problem solving skills.</li>
<li>Ability to multi-task several projects through different requirements of design iterations and priority shifts.</li>
<li>Proficient with the use of a laptop computer, and related software programs including, MS Outlook, MS Excel and MS Word.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.</li>
<li>Strong skills of time management and multi-tasking.</li>
<li>Ability to work outdoors for extended hours in various climate conditions and travel, including overnight stays for up to five nights.</li>
<li>Ability to walk over and across various terrain and carry surveying instruments, field and staking equipment for the purpose of laying out staking for Electric Distribution Design.</li>
<li>Ability to use tools to clear brush, or shallow excavation to locate property identifiers for the purpose of staking and design of distribution facilities.</li>
</ul>
Desired Duties and Responsibilities Include:
<ul><li>Prefer an Associate&rsquo;s degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.</li>
<li>Knowledge of joint construction and electric utility best practices.</li>
<li>Prefer the ability to interpret property line boundary, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, construction staking, ROW staking and collection of geospatial points.</li>
<li>Prefer the ability to research and collect property deed information at record facilities for the evaluation of existing or proposed easements, establish ownership information and definition of property boundaries.</li>
</ul>
Normal Work Schedule:
<ul><li>10 hours per day, 40 per week, Monday &ndash; Thursday</li>
<li>Overtime as required.</li>
<li>Variations of schedule dependent on work location and job deadlines.</li>
