<div>Job Goal: To provide clerical and managerial assistance in the library in order that the media specialist might work closely with students and teachers in support of instruction.

High School diploma</li><li>
Associate degree or higher preferred</li><li>
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable</li></ul>

Supervisor(s): Principal or Appropriate Supervisor 
Background Check Required: (Ala. Code &sect;&sect; 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than 10 years old. A new background check is required for anyone new to Madison City Schools, regardless of the recency of the ABI and FBI background checks.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:<ul><li>
Demonstrated keyboarding skills using a computer</li><li>
Ability and skill to operate and maintain audio-visual equipment and make minor repairs</li><li>
Basic knowledge and skills in operation of computer programs and related technology</li><li>
Physical capability to handle, move, retrieve and/or deliver materials and equipment that may be large and/or heavy to various locations including classrooms and other areas in the school</li><li>
Physical ability to reach both very high and very low areas in order to retrieve and replace items</li><li>
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, administrators, teachers and other co-workers</li><li>
Be capable of moving and lifting moderately heavy weights</li><li>
Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high intensive work environment</li></ul> 
Essential Functions:<ul><li>
Participated in daily and long-range planning.</li><li>
Prepares classroom materials and develops activities.</li><li>
Conducts activities with individuals and small groups.</li><li>
Assists in preparing class displays and bulletin boards.</li><li>
Assists in caring for and securing classroom equipment and supplies.</li><li>
Assists in duties related to assigned area of library/media center.</li><li>
Assists with classroom management.</li><li>
Assists with clerical work, projects and programs, special events and field trips.</li><li>
Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual students.</li><li>
Maintains confidentiality with regard to student performance and records.</li><li>
Perform other related duties as assigned.</li><li>
This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.</li><li>
Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.</li></ul>
Expected Employment: 7 hrs/182 days (full contract)
Evaluation: Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy. 
Salary Range: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years&rsquo; experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
