<p></p><div><p>Under direction, employee maintains log of all radio traffic and computer inquires. Checks for criminal history when application is made for pistol permits. Conducts warrant checks and maintains jail sheets. Establishes and maintains files, keeps records and performs NCIC computer operations.</p><div><b>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p><b>(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)</b></p><ul><li>
Obtains vehicle registration and driver's license information. Inquiries on subjects for wanted persons.</li><li>
Checks weapons, articles, vehicles, etc. as possibly being stolen.</li><li>
Obtains phone numbers, addresses and maintains a written log of all radio and computer transactions.</li><li>
Check subjects for warrants (in computer, in -house files or with other agencies) when they are booked into the jail and before being released.</li><li>
May also check in-house files for warrants on subjects for other agencies.</li><li>
Obtains information from subject's files for deputies, investigators, and other agencies.</li><li>
Processes and maintains all paperwork on subjects that are arrested.</li><li>
Properly codes subject's information, creates and maintains those files.</li><li>
Seals file when a subject is granted youthful offender status by court order.</li><li>
Maintains records of all convicted sexual offenders, obtaining fingerprints and photos for community notifications. Registers all individuals of felony crimes.</li><li>
Enters stolen articles, weapons, vehicles, and wanted persons in National Crime Information Center computer.</li><li>
Submits requests and responds to law enforcement agencies to verify information on stolen property or wanted persons.</li><li>
Sends teletypes to one or more agencies requesting assistance in locating persons or property.</li><li>
Enters subject's information into RMS computer, coding each arrest properly. Maintains written log on all computer transactions.</li><li>
Performs local background checks on subjects for employers, other law enforcement agencies, security clearances and when a subject applies for or renews a pistol permit.</li><li>
Must process and maintain all paperwork on subjects that are arrested.</li><li>
This consists of coding each individual's paperwork and creating files. Information on each subject must be entered and coded correctly into the computer.</li><li>
Printing of subject's paperwork for file is done after each arrest.</li><li>
Maintains subject's files; Obtains information from subject's files for deputies, investigators and other agencies. All information received on a subject must be coded and filed. Must also keep records of all individuals convicted of felony crimes.</li><li>
Make nationwide computer entries of stolen articles, weapons, vehicles, wanted persons etc. Submits requests and responses to other law enforcement agencies to verify information on stolen property or wanted persons. Sends teletypes (messages) to one or more agencies requesting assistance in locating persons or property wanted by Madison County Sheriff's Office.</li></ul></div><p></p>

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: Graduation from a high school or GED.</li></ul><p><b>
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability</b></p><ul><li>
Knowledge of telephone, typing, filing and computer operations.</li><li>
Ability to effectively communicate with the public in person and by phone and with deputies using coded language.</li><li>
Must be able to operate a radio, understand and convey messages as needed.</li><li>
Must speak clearly and concisely.</li></ul></div><p></p>

<b>Life Insurance</b><b>:</b> Madison County provides $25,000 in life, $25,000 in accidental death and dismemberment and $25,000 line of duty insurance to eligible employees in certified positions.<br>

<b>Employee Retirement Plans</b>: Employees are required to participate in the Employees Retirement System, which is a Defined Benefit Plan administered through the <b>Retirement Systems of Alabama</b> (RSA). Participants contribute 5% to 8.5% of their earnings depending on their hire date and classification. Sworn Certified Personnel have an accelerated contribution schedule<br>
