<div><p>The Substitute Custodian helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment by performing general cleaning, maintenance, and facility care duties. Working under the direction of the Facilities Services Manager, this position supports daily building operations to ensure classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas are sanitary and ready for use by students, staff, and the community.<br>
</p><p></p><p>This substitute position is on an as-needed basis and is not guaranteed day-to-day work.
</p><h4 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Key Responsibilities
</b></h4><ul><li><p>Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and other facilities.
</p></li><li><p>Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces.
</p></li><li><p>Empty trash and recycling containers; clean and disinfect restrooms.
</p></li><li><p>Set up and break down rooms and equipment for school activities and events.
</p></li><li><p>Operate custodial and maintenance equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and carpet extractors.
</p></li><li><p>Assist with snow removal, lawn care, and outdoor maintenance as directed.
</p></li><li><p>Report maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Services Manager.
</p></li><li><p>Follow all district safety policies and cleaning procedures.
</p></li><li><p>Demonstrate courteous and professional behavior when interacting with staff, students, and visitors.

</b></h4><ul><li><p>High school diploma or equivalent required.
</p></li><li><p>Obtain and maintain required clearances and employment trainings.
</p></li><li><p>Prior custodial or maintenance experience preferred, especially in a school or institutional setting.
</p></li><li><p>Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including bending, lifting, and climbing.
</p></li><li><p>Ability to operate and maintain custodial equipment safely and efficiently.
</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and safety protocols.
</p></li><li><p>Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
</p></li><li><p>Substitute at least one day a school year to remain on the substitute employment list.

</b></h4><p>This position involves physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting throughout the shift. Work may occur indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Personal protective equipment will be provided as needed.<br>

Day-to-Day Substitute Custodian, District-Wide

<div><p>The Day-to-Day Substitute Facilities Services Technician supports the Buildings and Grounds Department in maintaining clean, safe, and functional school facilities and grounds. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, custodial, and grounds keeping tasks to ensure that district buildings and athletic areas are well maintained and ready for student and community use.<br>

</b></h4><ul><li><p>Perform basic maintenance and repair work.
</p></li><li><p>Assist full-time maintenance staff with facility projects and preventive maintenance tasks.
</p></li><li><p>Mow, trim, and maintain district grounds, including athletic fields, lawns, and landscaped areas.
</p></li><li><p>Operate and maintain district equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and small tractors.
</p></li><li><p>Support snow removal operations during winter months.
</p></li><li><p>Perform custodial duties as assigned, including cleaning, restocking, and minor repair work.
</p></li><li><p>Ensure proper care and safety in the use of equipment, materials, and work practices.
</p></li><li><p>Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
</p></li><li><p>Demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior when working with staff, students, and the public.

</li><li><p>Prior experience in maintenance, facilities, or grounds work preferred.
</p></li><li><p>Ability to operate maintenance and grounds equipment safely and effectively.
</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of tools and materials used in basic building maintenance and repair.
</p></li><li><p>Valid Pennsylvania driver&rsquo;s license required.
</p></li><li><p>Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and kneeling.
</p></li><li><p>Availability for occasional weekend or after-hours assignments as needed.
</p></li><li>Substitute at least one day a school year to remain on the substitute employment list.
