Job Description: Shift Supervisor at Fazoli's
Position Title: Shift Supervisor 
Reports To: Restaurant Manager/ General Manager
Position Overview:
The Shift Supervisor at Fazoli&rsquo;s is responsible for overseeing daily restaurant operations during their assigned shift. This role involves managing the front-line team, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining operational efficiency, and supporting the management team in achieving business goals. The Shift Supervisor plays a crucial role in leading by example, providing guidance to staff, and ensuring that the restaurant maintains a high standard of food quality, cleanliness, and service. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
Key Responsibilities:<div><ul><li>
Leadership &amp; Team Supervision:</li></ul><ul><li>
Supervise and lead team members during the shift, ensuring they are performing tasks effectively and efficiently.</li><li>
Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members to improve performance and foster a positive team environment.</li><li>
Ensure the team is trained on company policies, procedures, and best practices.</li><li>
Delegate tasks to staff based on priorities and workflow, ensuring all areas of the restaurant are covered.</li><li>
Customer Service:</li></ul><ul><li>
Ensure an exceptional guest experience by maintaining high service standards and resolving any customer complaints or issues promptly.</li><li>
Monitor guest satisfaction and handle any concerns, ensuring customers leave with a positive impression.</li><li>
Lead by example in providing friendly and efficient service to all guests.</li><li>
Operational Efficiency:</li></ul><ul><li>
Oversee the restaurant's daily operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and cleaning procedures.</li><li>
Ensure that food is prepared to Fazoli&rsquo;s quality standards and is delivered to customers in a timely manner.</li><li>
Monitor restaurant performance during the shift, including speed of service, food quality, and cleanliness.</li><li>
Financial &amp; Cash Handling:</li></ul><ul><li>
Ensure accurate cash handling and register operations, including opening and closing registers, counting cash, and processing transactions.</li><li>
Assist in managing labor costs by adjusting staffing levels as needed to meet demand.</li><li>
Maintain adherence to company policies for handling cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment.</li><li>
Staffing &amp; Scheduling:</li></ul><ul><li>
Ensure that breaks, meal periods, and shifts are managed appropriately for staff.</li><li>
Step in as needed to cover shifts or assist with additional tasks when required.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li> 
Food Safety &amp; Sanitation:</li></ul><ul><li>
Ensure the restaurant is compliant with health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.</li><li>
Monitor kitchen and dining areas to ensure that cleanliness standards are consistently maintained throughout the shift.</li><li>
Oversee the proper storage and handling of food and supplies to prevent waste or contamination.</li><li>
Problem-Solving &amp; Decision Making:</li></ul><ul><li>
Make quick and effective decisions in response to operational challenges, customer issues, or staff concerns.</li><li>
Resolve conflicts or issues that arise among team members or with customers, escalating to the Manager or Assistant Manager as needed.</li><li>
Communication &amp; Reporting:</li></ul><ul><li>
Communicate effectively with management, staff, and guests to ensure smooth operations.</li><li>
Report any issues, equipment malfunctions, or significant occurrences to the Restaurant Manager.</li><li>
Provide feedback to the management team on employee performance and operational improvements.</li></ul></div>
Skills &amp; Qualifications:<ul><li>
Experience: Previous experience in food service, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role. A background in fast-casual or quick-service restaurants is a plus.</li><li>
Leadership: Strong leadership and people management skills to effectively lead a team and foster a positive work environment.</li><li>
Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve complaints and ensure customer satisfaction.</li><li>
Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to relay information to team members and management.</li><li>
Problem-Solving: Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively, resolving issues with minimal disruption.</li><li>
Multitasking: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.</li><li>
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail in maintaining restaurant standards and meeting customer expectations.</li></ul>
Job Requirements:<ul><li>
Ability to stand for extended periods (4-8+ hours) with periodic breaks.</li><li>
Perform repetitive motions, including frequent use of hands and arms for tasks such as chopping, stirring, carrying, and operating equipment.</li><li>
Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, twisting, and reaching above eye level.</li><li>
Capability to walk up and down stairs and use a step ladder as needed.</li><li>
Occasional sitting, talking, and active listening as required by the role.</li><li>
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly as part of job duties, including but not limited to food supplies, dishware, and equipment. When handling heavier loads, employees MUST use appropriate lifting equipment and/or seek assistance from a second person.</li><li>
Ability to move around the kitchen quickly and efficiently.</li><li>
Compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.</li></ul> 
Work Environment/ Job Conditions:<ul><li>
Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays.</li><li>
Work in a loud, fast-paced environment.</li><li>
Employees may regularly work in varying temperature zones, including hot kitchen areas with stoves, ovens, grills, and fryers, as well as cold storage areas like refrigerators and freezers.</li><li>
May involve exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals in the kitchen area.</li><li>
Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and training to ensure safety and comfort while handling temperature-sensitive tasks.</li><li>
