<div>Primary Purpose:
To promote and maintain a school environment that will ensure the safety and security of district personnel, students, and visitors to district campuses and facilities. 
Qualifications:<ul><li>
High School Diploma or GED</li><li>
Associates Degree from an accredited college or university preferred; college hours in</li><li>
Criminal Justice recommended</li><li>
Valid Texas driver license; meet and maintain automobile insurance liability eligibility</li><li>
School Resource Officer certification preferred</li><li>
Mental Health Officer certification preferred</li><li>
Current Texas Peace Officer license issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement</li><li>
(TCOLE); Intermediate Peace Officer certification preferred</li><li>
Bondable, as required by Texas Education Code &sect; 37.081</li><li>
Three years previous experience in full-time law enforcement preferred</li></ul> 
Knowledge/Skills:<ul><li>
Possess an understanding of the Texas Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Texas</li><li>
Family Code and Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code</li><li>
Ability to pass required physical, psychiatric, and drug testing</li><li>
Ability to record information</li><li>
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions</li><li>
Ability to work effectively with juveniles and the public at large, exercising sensitivity to special needs children</li><li>
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing</li><li>
Ability to problem solve, think critically, and manage conflict</li><li>
Ability to think clearly and respond calmly and effectively in escalating situations</li><li>
Working knowledge of criminal investigations, police reports, and criminal laws</li></ul> 
Essential Job functions:<ul><li>
Training and ability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms, non-lethal weapons, and handcuffs</li><li>
Exhibit a high level of personal integrity and display high ethical standards</li><li>
Operate a computer to develop databases and do word processing</li><li>
Actively monitor interior and exterior of campus for unauthorized persons</li><li>
Instruct in classroom setting (IE: traffic stop education, bullying, dating violence)</li><li>
Respond to calls for service which may include theft, criminal mischief, disturbances, or other disorders on school district sites</li><li>
Conduct initial and follow-up investigations (or assist with same)</li><li>
Assist in developing and implementing school safety programs</li><li>
Promote crime prevention and traffic safety programs</li><li>
Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and campus policies affecting schools, including daily attendance, punctuality, and confidentiality</li><li>
Assist other local law enforcement and fire agencies, as required or requested</li><li>
Assist school administration with alleged criminal violations committed by students, when requested</li><li>
Regularly confer with teachers, counselors, campus administrators, and other staff to identify problems and/or suspected criminal behavior</li><li>
Maintain contact with and act as a liaison to local law enforcement agencies</li><li>
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including records of all cases investigated and reports required by law</li><li>
Comply with all district routines and regulations</li><li>
Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors, colleagues, students, and parents</li><li>
Provide traffic control at athletic events, school closings/openings, or as otherwise required</li><li>
Provide escorts or accompany students, parents, or district staff, as needed</li><li>
Work effectively and efficiently with a team</li><li>
Follow safety and security procedures</li><li>
Other duties as assigned</li><li>

Equipment Used:
District vehicle and related equipment, handcuffs, issued firearms, fire extinguishers, security and alarm equipment, two-way radios, and computers and other office equipment
