As the first point of contact, you&rsquo;ll greet visitors, operate our computerized scale system, issue tickets, process payments, and maintain accurate records. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES</b><br>
Works at a county-operated disposal site or transfer station weighing vehicles on a computerized scale, issues weight tickets, makes change.<br>

Works under the general supervision of a supervisor, who reviews work for conformance to standards.<br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following</b></h2></div>
<div><p><b><i>This position provides services to monolingual Spanish-speaking individuals; therefore, fluent bilingual Spanish/English skills are required.</i></b></p><br>
<ul><li>
Communicate and access information via computer.</li><li>
Attend after hour&rsquo;s meetings.</li><li>
Operates a computerized scale system, types, inspects loads and determines correct rate to charge, visually confirms the information on the monitor, measures and computes volume, collect fees and make change, keeps accurate records, balances paperwork and completes closing paperwork for deposits as assigned.</li><li>
Successfully interacts with a variety of personality types.</li><li>
Answers the telephone, use calculator, Visa/MC authorization terminal, and various computer components.</li><li>
Maintains cleanliness of scale deck and approach, scale booth and surrounding area.</li><li>
Ability to climb up on vehicles to inspect loads.</li><li>
May participate in basic incident command training and drills to maintain proficiency in supporting EOC activities, including carrying out field work in connection with EOC operations. May be assigned clerical/support, incident liaison, or other duties at any location within or near the county. Emergency Management duties may require working long hours outside normal business hours, weekend/holiday work, and may occur with little or no advance notice.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.</li></ul></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Requirements for the Position</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><div><b>EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING</b></div><ul><li>
Graduation from high school or equivalent, preferably supplemented by experience in a landfill, scale operation or disposal site; AND</li><li>
One year of experience in public relations, money handling and basic use of computer; OR</li><li>
Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.</li></ul><div></div><b><br>
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</b><ul><li>
Must be able to be bonded.</li><li>
This position provides services to monolingual Spanish-speaking individuals; therefore, fluent bilingual Spanish/English skills are required. An additional 5% will be added to the hourly wage as compensation for this skill. Finalist will be required to pass a <b>verbal </b>Standardized Spanish/English Fluency Assessment as part of the hiring process.</li><li>
The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.</li><li>
This assignment is represented by a union.</li><li>
This is a full-time position, which is eligible for overtime.</li><li>
Typical Work Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.</li></ul><div><br>

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</b></div>
Basic knowledge of math; recycling programs. Basic skill in operating a computer.<br>

Ability to climb up on vehicles to inspect loads; lift and move 50 pounds; stand for long periods of time; work in inclement weather; work around compostable material; work with a minimum of supervision; keep accurate and complete records; perform simple math calculations and make change; work well with the public, especially in conflict situations; establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with the public, co-workers and other agencies; effectively communicate; stack tires, and climb up on vehicles to inspect loads.<br>

<b>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</b><br>
Stands; sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; climbs 1 flight of stairs; crawls; reaches overhead; lifts and moves up to 30 lbs.; carries items weighing up to 30 lbs. up to 50 feet; operates a keyboard; uses rapid-mental/hand/eye coordination; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12-pt. font; distinguishes colors and shades; sees using depth perception; hears a normal level of speech; works in areas that may be exposed to heat, cold, humidity, dust, smoke; noise, blood and body fluids, and vehicle exhaust; may use ladders and/or scaffolding.</div><p></p>
</div><div></div><div><div><p><b>PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS</b><br>
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions about your student loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or the US Department of Education.</p>
<p><b>VISA SPONSORSHIP</b><br>
Marion County does not offer VISA sponsorship. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Security&rsquo;s I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. Marion County is an E-Verify employer and will use E-Verify to confirm that hires are authorized to work in the United States.</p>
