POSITION SUMMARY</div><div></div><div>
Operates and performs maintenance on machinery, mechanical equipment and other services for the hospital. Operates on shifts alone and performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings of the hospital complex. Performs these duties using the appropriate skills, tools and technology.</div><div></div><div>
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS</div><div></div><div>
Knowledge:</div><ul><li><div>
Minimum of two years&rsquo; equivalent in education and/or experience as a mechanical trade worker in one of the following areas: Pipe fitter, plumber, construction mechanic, plant maintenance, refrigeration, air conditioning, boiler maker, general mechanics or hospital engineering experience.</div></li><li><div>
Experience in gas welding, arc welding and silver solder is highly preferred.</div></li><li><ul><li>Must meet all DMV requirements below.</li></ul></li></ul><div></div><div>
Skills:</div><ul><li><div>
Must be able to recognize the proper tool for the job and use it in the safest, as well as most efficient, economical and effective manner.</div></li><li><div>
Excellent customer service skills including oral, written and listening skills.</div></li><li><div>
Computer skills preferred but not required.</div></li></ul><div></div><ul><li>Note: Requires employees to drive at least once per pay period. These positions require driving as an Essential Job Function, where an alternative means of transportation, such as ride-share or public transportation is not feasible to complete these duties. The Engineer at Marshall Medical Center (MMC) installs and performs maintenance and repairs on machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe and electrical systems. Evaluates malfunctioning conditions against verifiable or judgmental criteria as shown in blueprints, installation instructions or submittals. Implements changes in procedure or protocol to maintain operations at optimal level. Performs these duties using the appropriate skills, tools and technology.</div><div></div><div>
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS</div><div></div><div>
Education/Licensure/Certification:</div><ul><li><div>
College or university program certification, or four years of related experience and/or training, (acceptable training includes but is not limited to certification in fields such as refrigeration, BOMA, AHA building maintenance programs and other certificates and licenses in related professional fields and trades), or equivalent combination of education and experience required.</div></li><li><ul><li>Must meet all DMV requirements below.</li></ul></li></ul><div></div><div>
Knowledge:</div><ul><li><div>
Experience/Training in the following areas preferred; Hospital/ Commercial Construction, Plant Maintenance, Refrigeration and A/C.</div></li><li><div>
Knowledge of Fire Safety, Fire Containment and Joint Commission (JC) inspection and requirements strongly preferred.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
Skills:</div><ul><li><div>
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.</div></li><li><div>
Computer skills preferred but not required.</div></li><li><div>
