TRIAL DIVISION 
 
The Attorney General&rsquo;s Office is looking for three (3) highly motivated paralegals to join the Trial Division within the Government Bureau. The Trial Division represents and defends the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, its agencies, and employees in a wide variety of civil lawsuits. 
Primary Duties :
<ul><li>Provide day-to-day paralegal and administrative support to Assistant Attorneys General and all aspects of their case requirements.
</li><li>Assist with fact gathering and conduct legal research to support case development.
</li><li>Attend client meetings, depositions (both in and outside the office), court hearings, and trials.
</li><li>Draft discovery documents and other pleadings.
</li><li>Organize and maintain files, including reviewing documents and exhibits.
</li><li>Support attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, meetings, and trials.
</li><li>Communicate with clients, attorneys, witnesses, court clerk's offices, and members of the public.
</li><li>Manage calendars, including the scheduling of critical dates, deadlines, and case-related appointments.
</li><li>Completing forms, prepare court documents for filing, and maintain case management system.
</li><li>Perform administrative and clerical duties, including processing all presentments, typing, filing, screening mail.
</li>Perform other duties, as required.

</li></ul>Position Qualifications :
<ul><li>Prior civil litigation experience, preferred.
</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
</li><li>Excellent organizational and time management skills.
</li><li>Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
</li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
</li><li>Working knowledge of Westlaw, preferred.
</li>Valid Massachusetts driver's license is preferred, as travel may be required to various courts, client, and opposing party locations and law offices.

Position Type : Full-Time/Non-Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. 
Salary : $55,375

Paralegal | Trial Division

PUBLIC PROTECTION &amp; ADVOCACY BUREAU
INSURANCE &amp; FINANCIAL SERVICES DIVISION 
 
The Attorney General's Office is looking for a high-motivated individual to serve as a Paralegal in the Insurance &amp; Financial Services Division (IFSD). The Division handles investigations, mediations, and enforcement actions related to banking, securities, insurance products, and other financial services. 
Primary Duties :
<ul><li>The Paralegal will provide administrative, technical, and investigative support relating to ongoing settlement implementations, mediations, and consumer outreach.
</li><li>The Paralegal will also assist IFSD attorneys and technical staff in ongoing litigation and related investigations. Such assistance will include organizing and reviewing discovery materials; analyzing and manipulating large quantities of data; performing research; managing and reviewing files; entering case information into databases; engaging in communication with consumers, witnesses, experts, and others by mail, electronic mail, and telephone; and assisting in the drafting of various memoranda, consumer advisories, and reports.
</li>The Paralegal will also input data into Excel and perform formulaic computations and searches on this data.

</li></ul>Position Requirements :
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
</li><li>Experience providing support to experts and attorneys in a legal setting, preferred.
</li><li>Familiarity with consumer lending rules, securities regulation, and/or consumer insurance issues, preferred.
</li><li>Committed to working in the public interest.
</li><li>Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
</li><li>Demonstrated ability to complete complex tasks, follow instructions, be intellectually curious, and produce high-quality work product based on financial services data.
</li><li>Effective analytical, research, and communication skills.
</li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel. Other programming or data analysis experience is also helpful.

Salary : $55,375
