The Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General is looking for an experienced and highly motivated attorney to serve as an Assistant Attorney General in the Police Accountability Unit (PAU). This innovative Unit within the Civil Rights Division protects the civil rights of people who interact with local police departments and other law enforcement agencies. 
Primary Duties : The Assistant Attorney General will work closely with the PAU Director to pursue the Unit&rsquo;s mission to investigate and redress patterns or practices of racially biased or otherwise unlawful policing, provide support to law enforcement agencies regarding civil rights compliance, and protect the civil rights of incarcerated people. Responsibilities include:
<ul><li>Screening and developing new matters.
</li><li>Conducting comprehensive investigations involving interviews, data analysis, and retaining and working with experts.
</li><li>Drafting written recommendations including legal analyses.
</li><li>Litigating cases in state and federal court related to PAU&rsquo;s enforcement authority, including negotiating, monitoring, and enforcing settlement agreements.
</li><li>Working collaboratively with other state agencies, including the Police Officer Standards &amp; Training Commission (&ldquo;POST&rdquo;) and the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (&ldquo;EOPSS&rdquo;).
</li><li>Working collaboratively with law enforcement agencies, including by providing technical assistance, legal guidance, and training on compliance with civil rights laws.
</li><li>Developing legislative and policy initiatives.
</li><li>Reviewing and drafting amicus briefs.
</li>Engaging with community stakeholders on matters related to policing practices and criminal justice reform, including through speaking engagements and attendance at community meetings.

</li></ul>Position Requirements :
<ul><li>Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar or eligible for admission in short order.
</li><li>At least three (3) years of full-time legal experience, preferably including complex civil litigation and/or criminal justice experience, such as litigation or advocacy involving law enforcement practices or experience as a prosecutor or criminal defense attorney.
</li><li>Experience working directly with or on behalf of members of the public, especially historically marginalized communities.
</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to ensuring the trust and confidence of communities in law enforcement agencies and ensuring accountability when law enforcement officers commit misconduct.
</li><li>Outstanding research, writing, and advocacy skills.
</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, including other attorneys and staff.
</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
</li>Fluency in a second language, especially Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), Vietnamese, or Haitian Creole is a plus.

Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations in Boston, New Bedford, Springfield, or Worcester. 
Salary : $87,500 to $130,595, commensurate with JD year and experience.

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join the Human Trafficking Division as Assistant Attorney General (AAG). The Human Trafficking Division is a team of statewide prosecutors, partnered with the Massachusetts State Police, investigators, and victim witness advocates, charged with investigating and prosecuting crimes related to sex trafficking and labor trafficking within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. These cases often involve challenging and complex issues, as well as coordination with local and federal law enforcement and victim service providers. Additionally, the Human Trafficking Division co-leads the Commonwealth&rsquo;s Anti-Trafficking (CAT) Task Force. The Commonwealth&rsquo;s Anti-Trafficking Task Force is a multi-disciplinary task force that assembles partners across sectors to comprehensively address all forms of human trafficking in the Commonwealth. The Human Trafficking Division also coordinates statewide efforts related to human trafficking policy formation, training, and education. 
Primary Duties :
This Assistant Attorney General position involves the investigation and prosecution of sex trafficking and labor trafficking criminal cases across all jurisdictions of Massachusetts, focusing on cases arising out of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. Investigations involve working within a multi-disciplinary team, including victim witness advocates, law enforcement officers, financial investigators, as well as connecting with service providers, to approach potential human trafficking scenarios. The approach may involve victim and witness interviews, assessment of financial and documentary evidence and search warrants. Other responsibilities include participation in a multi-agency task force dedicated to the sharing of intelligence regarding human trafficking cases and pursuing forfeiture actions against offenders where applicable. 
The Assistant Attorney General will also work within a multidisciplinary team to evaluate complaints and initiate investigations of human trafficking; formulate investigative strategies; prepare search warrants; analyze documents; interview witnesses; conduct document and witness-intensive grand jury investigations; prepare immunity and/or cooperation agreements, as needed; make charging, venue, and plea-bargaining recommendations; and prosecute complex criminal cases in superior courts. Participation in training and outreach efforts, particularly in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties may be required. 
Position Requirements :
<ul><li>Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
</li><li>At least five (5) years of litigation experience including experience as a criminal prosecutor or defense attorney preferred.
</li><li>Jury trial and grand jury experience are required.
</li><li>Knowledge of, or ability to gain understanding of, the Massachusetts human trafficking statutes and the comprehensive legislation that address the exploitation of children and adults.
</li><li>Experience investigating and prosecuting human trafficking, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence cases is preferred.
</li><li>Exceptional analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
</li><li>Demonstrated ability to conduct complex investigations and prosecutions and carry a significant caseload.
</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team, including with law enforcement and investigators, victim support personnel and anti-trafficking stakeholders.
</li><li>Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with the public.
</li>Must have access to reliable transportation, as travel is necessary to various courts and offices throughout the Commonwealth.

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for an experienced and highly motivated attorney to join her Antitrust Division as an Assistant Attorney General. The Attorney General&rsquo;s Antitrust Division protects the people, state agencies, and businesses of Massachusetts from anticompetitive practices and helps maintain and encourage a competitive and vibrant economy through fair and effective enforcement of the antitrust laws. The Antitrust Division investigates and challenges anticompetitive mergers, price-fixing agreements, and other illegal practices by companies, both local and national, that harm Massachusetts consumers and important state interests. Recent antitrust cases or matters brought by the Attorney General have involved, among other areas, airlines, online platforms/services, health care, communications, and pharmaceuticals. 
Primary Duties : The Assistant Attorney General will represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in investigations and litigation before state and federal courts and will be responsible for handling a substantial number of matters involving the enforcement of state and federal antitrust laws. Cases will cover a broad range of industries and will often pose complex and cutting-edge legal and economic issues. In addition to handling their own cases, the Assistant Attorney General will work with other attorneys, including, in some cases, attorneys from other states across the country and attorneys with the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission. The Assistant Attorney General may be involved in policy development, including drafting or reviewing proposed legislation. 
 
Position Requirements :
<ul><li>Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar or be eligible for admission in short order.
</li><li>Litigation and/or other relevant legal experience, preferably three years or more of complex civil litigation experience.
</li><li>Previous experience in antitrust or competition law is desired, but not required.
</li><li>Experience with quantitative and/or economic analyses or experience working on matters involving such analyses, preferred.
</li><li>Ability to quickly grasp sometimes complex legal, business, financial, and economic concepts. Excellent oral and written advocacy skills.
</li><li>Self-motivated with the ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making.
</li><li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
