Job DescriptionCompany OverviewOur Mission: We are inspired by the Gospel to provide free primary healthcare services to the uninsured, low-income residents of Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio.Matthew 25 is the only full-time center in Allen County offering medical, dental, vision, mental health counseling, and prescription services at no cost to qualified patients. We are a volunteer-driven health practice supported by dedicated staff, providers, and community members.Matthew 25 receives no governmental monies and depends entirely on gifts from individuals, churches, organizations, and corporations, as well as grants from foundations.Job InformationPosition Title: Bilingual Medical Assistant / Front Desk ReceptionistDepartment: Front DeskReports to: Front Desk Manager &amp; Charge NurseFLSA Status: Non-ExemptJob SummaryThis hybrid role combines front desk reception responsibilities with front-end clinical triage. The individual serves as the first point of contact for patients and uses clinical training to assess walk-in needs and determine appropriate next steps. This position requires strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to manage patient flow efficiently while delivering compassionate care.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneDuties/Responsibilities or Essential FunctionsFront Desk Responsibilities&middot; Greet and welcome patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion&middot; Check patients in and out, ensuring accurate documentation and record retrieval&middot; Schedule appointments and manage patient flow&middot; Answer and triage incoming phone calls, directing appropriately&middot; Assist patients with forms, questions, and general inquiries&middot; Maintain and update patient records in EMR systems&middot; Handle patient concerns, complaints, or conflicts with professionalism&middot; Provide information about services, hours, and clinic procedures&middot; Accept and document donations as applicable&middot; Assist with training volunteers on front desk proceduresFront-End Clinical / Triage Responsibilities&middot; Perform initial triage of walk-in patients to determine urgency and appropriate care pathway&middot; Assess patient concerns using clinical judgment to decide if they should be seen the same day, scheduled later, or referred to urgent/emergency care&middot; Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding patient needs and priorities&middot; Conduct basic intake notes and document in EMR&middot; Provide guidance to patients based on established protocols&middot; Assist with phone triage and patient inquiries using clinical knowledgeNote: This role is not currently responsible for back-office clinical duties such as rooming patients, taking vitals, or assisting with procedures.Required Skills/Abilities&middot; Fluency in Spanish and English (required)&middot; Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment skills&middot; Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment&middot; Excellent verbal and written communication&middot; Proficiency with computers and EMR systems&middot; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail&middot; High emotional intelligence and professionalism&middot; Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity&middot; Strong interpersonal skills with diverse populations&middot; Team-oriented mindset with a patient-first attitudeKey Values/Characteristics&middot; Compassion toward all people&middot; Inclusive mindset and ability to meet patients where they are&middot; Passion for serving underserved communities&middot; Respect for individuals of all backgrounds&middot; Strong sense of mission and purpose&middot; Grace and understanding in complex situationsEducation and Experience&middot; Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or other licensed healthcare credential (preferred)&middot; Experience with patient triage, intake, or ambulatory care strongly preferred&middot; Customer service experience strongly preferredPhysical Requirements&middot; Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use&middot; Occasional standing and movement between front desk areas&middot; Ability to lift up to 20 poundsPay: From $15.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>403(b)</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Health savings account</li><li>Paid time off</li></ul>Application Question(s):<ul><li>Do you speak Spanish?</li></ul>Work Location: In person
