<div>MAVENTRI is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to support multiple clients with day-to-day accounting execution, month-end close preparation, and financial accuracy. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how transactions flow through the financial statements and can confidently manage books with minimal oversight. 
 
The ideal candidate has strong experience with payroll mapping, journal entries, accrual versus cash basis accounting, and working with nonprofits and government contractors. 
 
This position requires availability during standard business hours (EST) and direct communication with clients.
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Transaction Management &amp; Posting</h3>
<ul><li>Record and categorize transactions accurately in QuickBooks Online and/or Xero</li><li>
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable</li><li>
Maintain general ledger accuracy</li><li>
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations</li><li>
Post payroll journal entries and ensure proper account mapping</li><li>
Maintain payroll-related liability accounts</li></ul>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Journal Entries &amp; Adjustments</h3>
<ul><li>Prepare and post adjusting journal entries</li><li>
Record accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications</li><li>
Apply accrual versus cash basis accounting appropriately</li><li>
Support month-end and year-end close preparation</li></ul>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Financial Statement Support</h3>
<ul><li>Generate and review financial statements (P&amp;L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)</li><li>
Ensure accounts are properly categorized and financials are clean and review-ready</li><li>
Identify inconsistencies or errors and resolve them proactively</li><li>
Support Controller review process</li></ul>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Nonprofit &amp; Government Contractor Accounting</h3>
<ul><li>Maintain proper fund or class tracking for nonprofits</li><li>
Understand restricted versus unrestricted funds</li><li>
Support DCAA-compliant accounting practices where applicable</li><li>
Ensure proper cost allocation and expense tracking

<ul><li>7+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
</li><li>Senior-level, hands-on bookkeeping experience
</li><li>Strong understanding of payroll posting and account mapping

</li><li>Experience generating and understanding financial statements
</li><li>Experience working with nonprofits and/or government contractors
</li><li>Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (Xero experience a plus)

Senior Bookkeeper

MAVENTRI is seeking an experienced and dependable professional, to support our clients' payroll and human resources operations.
This role is primarily focused on payroll processing and compliance, while also providing HR-related support to small and growing businesses. The most successful candidate thrives in a multi-client environment, is highly organized, dependable, and confident navigating multiple payroll systems and deadlines.
We provide fractional payroll and human resources to small and growing businesses, so your daily work will be working with multiple clients in a supportive and consultative role. You will be preparing and processing a dozen or so small business payrolls, on different pay schedules on varying payroll platforms.
This role will primarily provide Payroll support, but may also learn and assist with HR-related support, as we take a team approach to our fractional, project, and consulting services to our small business clients.
This is a Part-Time Regular position, with an average of 15-20 hours per week - some weeks will have more hours due to more payroll deadlines. There may be opportunities in the future to grow as the company grows (to more hours or even full time).
Must have daytime availability, and ability to work occasionally until 7:00pm EST for payroll deadlines, and sometimes holidays for preparation timelines.
Remote work, with the possibility for in-person meetings for team connection or company networking.
Preferred locations: Central Florida or Northern Virginia areas
Reliable internet is required.
<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">REQUIREMENTS</h2>
Schedule Requirements
<ul><li>Monday through Friday, during business hours of 8-5 EST, with occasional weekend and/or holiday requirements depending on payroll deadlines</li><li>
Average workload of 3 hours per day, but will vary based on the number of payrolls to prepare.</li><li>
Must be able to work and check in every day, at different times to be available for urgent or time sensitive payroll issues as well as payroll preparation follow-ups (for example, you work 3 hours in the morning, you also check in late-afternoon for follow-up).</li><li>
Hours worked each day will vary depending on payroll processing schedules; Flexibility for some payroll prep work to be completed outside of business hours, if desired.</li></ul>
Required Experience
<ul><li>5+ years of experience processing payrolls<ul><li>
Gusto and Paylocity, required.
</li><li>QuickBooks, Patriot, ADP, and others are a plus.</li></ul></li><li>
Experience with both small and medium sized business payrolls.</li><li>
Experience with payroll platform implementations and migrations.</li><li>
Experience in drafting payroll-related documentation (process, procedure, etc.) and training material</li><li>
Experience with opening, closing, and resolving issues with state payroll tax accounts</li></ul>
Strongly Preferred
<ul><li>FPC or CPP (current or past)</li><li>
Experience in a consultant-type role where you have multiple clients</li><li>
Experience with Government Contractor payroll and compliance</li><li>
Located in Florida or Virginia</li></ul>

Skilled in customer service and communication</li><li>
Skilled in troubleshooting system issues</li><li>
Extremely reliable, dependable, and resourceful</li><li>
A deep knowledge of Payroll practices, as well as Federal payroll rules and regulations</li><li>
A general knowledge of employment rules and regulations.</li><li>
