Job Title:Consultant / Senior Resident &ndash; Critical Care Specialist (Intensivist)Department:Intensive Care Unit (ICU) &amp; Critical Care MedicineReporting To:Medical Director / Head of Critical CareJob Purpose:To lead and manage the ICU, provide round-the-clock expert care to critically ill patients, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure adherence to evidence-based critical care protocols for improved patient outcomes.Key Responsibilities:1. ICU Patient Management<ul><li>Take complete responsibility for assessment, diagnosis, and management of all ICU patients.</li><li>Conduct daily clinical rounds, review patient progress, and modify treatment plans as required.</li><li>Optimize hemodynamic, respiratory, renal, and metabolic parameters of ICU patients.</li><li>Provide advanced ventilator management (invasive &amp; non-invasive).</li><li>Manage complex conditions including septic shock, multi-organ dysfunction, ARDS, acute cardiac events, neurological emergencies, and trauma.</li></ul>2. Critical Care Procedures<ul><li>Perform or supervise ICU procedures:</li><li>Endotracheal intubation &amp; airway management</li><li>Central venous catheterization</li><li>Arterial line insertion</li><li>Tracheostomy (surgical/percutaneous) assistance</li><li>Chest tube insertion</li><li>Bedside ultrasound, echocardiography, and hemodynamic monitoring</li><li>Dialysis catheter insertion for CRRT/HD patients</li></ul>3. Emergency Response<ul><li>Lead Code Blue and resuscitation efforts.</li><li>Provide Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and trauma resuscitation.</li><li>Support ER and wards for rapid response to deteriorating patients.</li></ul>4. Multidisciplinary Coordination<ul><li>Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, physicians, and other specialists for integrated patient care.</li><li>Coordinate with physiotherapists, dietitians, and nursing for holistic recovery plans.</li><li>Liaise with microbiology for targeted antibiotic stewardship.</li></ul>5. Family &amp; Patient Communication<ul><li>Conduct daily family counseling sessions to explain patient status, prognosis, and treatment plans.</li><li>Handle difficult conversations empathetically and professionally.</li></ul>6. Quality, Safety &amp; Protocol Compliance<ul><li>Implement ICU protocols, bundles, and checklists as per NABH/JCI guidelines (e.g., VAP bundle, CLABSI prevention, sepsis protocol).</li><li>Ensure strict infection control practices.</li><li>Participate in morbidity &amp; mortality meetings and root cause analysis.</li><li>Monitor ICU KPIs: mortality rate, length of stay, infection rates, and unplanned extubations.</li></ul>7. Academic &amp; Training Responsibilities<ul><li>Conduct bedside teaching for residents, nurses, and paramedics.</li><li>Organize simulation-based training for BLS, ACLS, and airway management.</li><li>Participate in CME programs and case discussions.</li></ul>8. Job Title:Consultant / Senior Resident AnesthetistDepartment:Anesthesiology &amp; Critical CareReporting To:Medical Director / Head of Anesthesiology / ICU In-ChargeJob Purpose:To provide safe, effective, and timely anesthesia care for all surgical and procedural cases, manage ICU and critical care patients with acute or chronic cardiorespiratory conditions, and ensure smooth recovery and pain management post-surgery.Key Responsibilities:1. Operation Theatre &amp; Procedural Anesthesia<ul><li>Administer anesthesia for all surgical specialties &mdash; General Anesthesia (GA), Spinal Anesthesia, Epidural, Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC), and Regional Blocks.</li><li>Pre-anesthetic evaluation of patients, including history taking, physical examination, and necessary investigations.</li><li>Plan and execute anesthesia according to patient&rsquo;s condition and surgical requirements.</li><li>Provide regional nerve blocks for perioperative pain control.</li><li>Ensure safe induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia.</li><li>Monitor patient&rsquo;s vital signs and manage any intraoperative complications.</li></ul>2. Post-Operative Recovery &amp; Pain Management<ul><li>Manage patients in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for smooth recovery.</li><li>Provide acute pain services, including post-op analgesia via intravenous, epidural, or nerve block methods.</li><li>Monitor for and manage post-anesthesia complications (e.g., nausea, respiratory depression, hypotension).</li></ul>3. ICU &amp; Critical Care Coverage<ul><li>Provide 24/7 ICU coverage on rotation or as per roster.</li><li>Manage ventilated patients and optimize ventilator settings according to diagnosis.</li><li>Handle emergencies related to cardiorespiratory arrest, septic shock, acute kidney injury, and multi-organ failure.</li><li>Perform critical care procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, arterial line placement, chest tube insertion, and tracheostomy assistance.</li><li>Coordinate with multidisciplinary ICU team for patient management plans.</li></ul>4. Cardiorespiratory &amp; Emergency Management<ul><li>Handle acute emergencies in ICU, wards, or emergency department.</li><li>Expertise in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).</li><li>Immediate management of airway, breathing, and circulation in deteriorating patients.</li><li>Manage cases of acute myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, ARDS, and other critical conditions.</li></ul>5. Pre-Operative &amp; Inter-Departmental Coordination<ul><li>Coordinate with surgeons, physicians, and other specialists for anesthesia planning.</li><li>Advise on patient optimization before surgery, especially for high-risk and co-morbid patients.</li><li>Attend multidisciplinary team meetings for complex cases.</li></ul>6. Academic &amp; Quality Responsibilities<ul><li>Maintain NABH/JCI documentation related to anesthesia and critical care.</li><li>Participate in infection control programs in OT &amp; ICU.</li><li>Conduct CME sessions and training for ICU nurses, junior doctors, and paramedics.</li><li>Keep updated with latest guidelines in anesthesia and critical care medicine.</li></ul>7.
