<div><b>Position Status:</b> Full-time.</div>
</div><div><b>Hours of Operation:</b> Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm</div>
<div></div><div><b>Job Summary: </b>The Housekeeper / Laundry&rsquo;s primary function is to provide any combination of cleaning duties to ensure the facility is clean and sanitized. Duties range from making beds, washing clothes and linens, cleaning rooms and halls, and vacuuming.</div>
<div></div><div><b>Essential Functions / Duties:</b></div>
<ul><li>Observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy; empty wastebaskets and transport trash to disposal areas.</li>
<li>Assist in the proper care and use of housekeeping equipment.</li>
<li>Identify and report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.</li>
<li>Identify safety hazards and emergency situations.</li>
<li>Report any observed area in poor repair to supervisor.</li>
<li>Keep storage areas and wheeled carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy; must adhere to regulations with regards to chemicals (i.e. locked storage).</li>
<li>Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.</li>
<li>Replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and other housekeeping supplies.</li>
<li>Make any necessary linen changes.</li>
<li>Prevent the spread of infection through proper handling, storage, washing, and transporting of all garments and linens.</li>
<li>Operate, load, and remove articles into washers and dryers; operate an automated laundry solution dispensing system (mix and add detergents, bleaches, starches, or other solutions as directed); place garments and linens in drum of washer; correctly adjust water temperature and wash cycle for the type of linen being washed, as required; transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer; clean machine filters.</li>
<li>Sort and remove articles from washers and dryers; hang, fold, and stack garments and linens; distribute clothes to resident&rsquo;s rooms without error.</li>
<li>Return clean linen to linen closets and mobile racks to ensure adequate supply is available for use at all times; report any garments or linens in ill repair to social services.</li>
<li>Work cooperatively with residents, families, volunteers, visitors, and staff.</li>
<li>Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.</li>
<li>Operate computers programmed with software needed to record, store, and analyze resident information; operate copy/fax/printer machines to send documents and produce documents.</li>
<li>Perform other related duties as directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Please refer to the Physical and Other Requirements section for abilities that are essential as they relate to the ability to do duties listed above.</li>

<div></div><div><b>Education and Experiences: </b>Prior experience in a similar working environment is preferred, but not a requirement of the position. Must be at least 16 years of age if working in a full-time position and free of all communicable diseases.

<ul><li>Ability to understand, observe, and enforce infection control procedures related to facility services.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Ability to observe all facility safety policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Ability to understand and recognize potential physical, chemical, and electrical hazards and take immediate corrective action as appropriate.</li>
<li>Ability to understand and enforce the Exposure Control Plan as this position risks occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious material as an essential function of the job.</li>
<li>Ability to safeguard the privacy of Residents&rsquo; health information.</li>
<li>Ability to speak and read English, and follow oral and written directions.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, residents, and staff.</li>
<li>Ability to perform other related duties as directed by administration.</li>
<li>Must attend staff meetings, in-service classes, and committee meetings as assigned or required.</li>

<div></div><div><b>Physical and Other Requirements: </b>This position works in residents' rooms and is subject to lifting, using, and transporting cleaning equipment and supplies.</div>
<div></div><div>This position interacts with residents, family members, staff, etc., under all conditions and circumstances and must be constantly alert for resident safety. This position is also subject to exposure to infectious diseases, conditions, etc., including the Hepatitis B viruses.</div>
<div></div><div>This position requires the following abilities as essential to for the position:</div>
<ul><li>Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, stretch, crawl, crouch, kneel, balance, finger, grasp, push, pull, reach, or walk.</li>
<li>Ability to lift objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects along a horizontal level but from position to position. This includes lifting and carrying weights in the 35 to 50 pound range.</li>
<li>Ability to exert force upon an object in order to draw, drag or tug objects toward the source of the force in a sustained motion.</li></ul></div>
