Senior Project Manager/Engineer &ndash; Civil

McMillen, Inc. is looking for a Senior Project Manager/Engineer - Civil with 15-20 years of experience focused in water resource-related work.

Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner</li>
<li>Work in conjunction with engineers, geologists, and scientists to solve project challenges, performing design calculations as required.</li>
<li>Support dam safety engineering, by supporting the multi-disciplinary needs of the dam safety programs</li>
<li>Multi-task across various disciplines and locations in support of dam and other hydroelectric specific project work</li>
<li>Communicate professionally and effectively with a variety of subject-matter experts and project contributors in a collaborative team environment</li>
<li>Assist with feasibility studies by conducting research to assess challenges and develop solutions.</li>
<li>Conduct field inspections; observe and participate in field exploration and testing programs; and perform site characterizations and evaluate geotechnical hazards</li>
<li>Assist in the selection of criteria for planning, design, and construction of dams, tunnels, foundations, slopes, and earth-retaining structures.</li>
<li>Assess subsurface conditions, including soil and rock properties and geomechanical conditions, including review and interpretation of field maps, field logs, test data, and other field documentation. Evaluate field and laboratory test data and develop parameters for use in technical analyses.</li>
<li>Conduct numerical analysis using programs such as DIPS, UNWEDGE, SWEDGE, UDEC, Phase2, Rocscience SLIDE..</li>
<li>Prepare technical reports including geotechnical data reports, geotechnical baseline reports, field reports, technical memoranda, computation packages, feasibility reports, design and evaluation reports, construction drawings, and specifications.</li>
<li>General knowledge of seismic analyses</li>
<li>Provide field engineering support for projects during construction.</li>
<li>Participate in professional development and training activities.</li>
<li>Manage projects including client expectations and project scope, schedule, and budgets</li>
<li>Project and Task Management effectively manage multi-discipline teams for hydroelectric and dam projects</li>
<li>Mentor more junior engineers in a respectful and collaborative manner that promotes positive team spirit</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university required (MS with a civil focus preferred)</li>
<li>Professional Engineer registration required</li>
<li>10+ years of experience related to geotechnical analysis and design and/or dam safety engineering</li>
<li>Skill in reading, interpreting and communicating contract documents, plans and specifications</li>
<li>Knowledge of FERC Guidelines preferred</li>
<li>Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction related to dam and hydro infrastructure</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to convey technical information through written and verbal communication (English)</li>
<li>Project management experience</li>
<li>Ability to work in a team environment, work independently and be self-motivated</li>
<li>Willing to travel up to 25%</li>
<li>Proficient in Microsoft Office suite</li>

Compensation Package:
<ul>
<li>Pay Range: 138,198 &ndash; 250,000 (DOE)

Senior Project Manager, Structural
McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Managing Engineer with a strong technical background to help deliver exceptional service to our clients. The Senior Managing Engineer will work in a variety of water-related projects in fields including but not limited to: fisheries, fish passage, hydropower, dams, flood control, pump stations, water treatment, storm water, surface water management planning, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships. Actively participate in the developing relationships with key clients, participating in professional service organizations, and attending conferences/events. Conduct or participate in workshops and meetings with clients.</li>
<li>Identify project opportunities, actively pursue opportunities, and prepare proposals. Consult with clients to plan and develop strategies for their water resource needs. Work cooperatively with Practice Leads, Discipline Leads, and Operations Managers in local and national marketing production efforts.</li>
<li>Conduct a kick-off meeting with all key stakeholders in order to announce the start of the project and review the overall project plan and gain consensus.</li>
<li>Identify high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints: Document high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints using historical data and expert judgment in order to understand project limitations.</li>
<li>Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques in order to keep the project plan accurate, updated, reflective of authorized project changes as defined in the change management plan, and facilitate customer acceptance.</li>
<li>Ensure a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the Project Plan, in order to align the stakeholders and team members.</li>
<li>Effectively manage multi-discipline teams for a wide range of water resources projects and tasks.</li>
<li>Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques in order to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.</li>
<li>Execute the tasks as defined in the project plan in order to achieve the project goals.</li>
<li>Identify key project team members by defining roles and responsibilities to create a project organization structure in order to develop the communication plan.</li>
<li>Implement the approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events in order to minimize the impact of the risks on the project.</li>
<li>Improve team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, and training.</li>
<li>Evaluation and design of water infrastructure projects and other civil engineering support tasks. Design experience should include familiarity with treatment facilities and/or distribution/conveyance facilities.</li>
<li>Develop detailed designs, plans, and specifications for infrastructure projects, including pipeline storage, and pump station design for storm drain, recycled water, and wastewater collection systems.</li>
<li>Prepare or oversee preparation of planning reports, plans and specifications, and cost estimates for various water, recycled water and wastewater infrastructure projects.</li>
<li>Manage planning, design and construction support services for water, recycled water and wastewater infrastructure projects (Design Project Manager).</li>
<li>Design of storm water management systems for water quality and quantity control.</li>
<li>Preparation of drainage, soil erosion and sediment control, utility relocation, right-of-way, staging and construction plans, specifications and engineering estimates for water resources and transportation projects.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University</li>
<li>Master's degree preferred</li>
<li>18+ years of experience in civil, and/or hydraulic engineering</li>
<li>Professional Engineering registration is required. California PE registration strongly preferred</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, wastewater treatment and pump stations</li>
<li>Familiarity with Federal Agency codes and requirements, including FERC, USACE, USBR</li>
</ul>
Compensation Package:
<ul>
<li>Pay Range: $154,000 &ndash; $230,000 (DOE)</li>
