Job Description:
MEI is seeking a skilled Substation Design Engineer to lead the development of high-voltage substation design packages for utility, industrial, and commercial projects. This role involves designing substations using applicable codes, standards, and client requirements, with responsibilities ranging from layout and grounding to material specifications and calculations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple design packages in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Occasional travel may be required for site visits or client meetings.
Job Duties:<ul><li>
Design substations utilizing applicable codes and client standards (if available). Typical design to include general arrangement, equipment and electrical layout, elevation views, cable trench, grounding, conduit drawings, details, bills of material, and AC and DC power systems.</li><li>
Design ground grids based on applicable codes utilizing industry available software.</li><li>
Design lightning protection and grounding plans.</li><li>
Complete calculations such as AC and DC load, bus spans, and ampacity calculations.</li><li>
Create equipment and material specifications for procurement of engineered equipment as well as development of design scope and cost estimates.</li><li>
Complete conceptual designs and layouts for facility planning studies.</li><li>
Preparing additional support documentation as needed to assist procurement, construction , and operation/maintenance of systems being designed.</li><li>
Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.</li><li>
Perform/Ensure company's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are been follow on all design packages.</li></ul>
Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.</li><li>
5+ years of experience in substation physical design.</li><li>
Experience in directly related to working with electricity, preferably in utilities.</li><li>
Must have strong knowledge of AutoCAD</li><li>
Microsoft Office product application.</li><li>
Excellent document management and organization skills.</li><li>
Strong attention to detail.</li><li>
Ability to multi-task and work with a variety of projects and deadlines.</li><li>
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li></ul>

Job Description:
MEI has a job opportunity for a Mechanical Designer to be an integral member of our Mechanical design team. The scope of projects will include data centers, industrial buildings, offices, and other high-profile construction projects. This role will be highly collaborative amongst MEI staff, clients, vendors, and external disciplines. MEI is committed to providing opportunities for professional development and growth.
Job Duties:<ul><li>
Support the design and documentation of mechanical and plumbing systems using Revit for various projects, including data centers, industrial buildings, and offices.</li><li>
Develop detailed HVAC and plumbing system layouts within Revit, including ductwork, piping, and equipment placement.</li><li>
Perform engineering calculations for load analysis, equipment sizing, and system performance optimization to ensure design accuracy.</li><li>
Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems within Revit models.</li><li>
Write and edit mechanical equipment specifications, select equipment, mechanical systems, and devices while considering cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency.</li><li>
Review submittals, RFIs, and change orders, assist with the preparation of record drawings, and participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning work.</li><li>
Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and national building codes, standards, and sustainability requirements.</li><li>
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and vendors to resolve technical challenges and improve design efficiency.</li><li>
Stay updated on the latest Revit features, industry trends, and best practices to support continuous improvement in mechanical design workflows.</li></ul>
Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field</li><li>
Skills in HVAC design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, load software, etc.</li><li>
Familiarity with HVAC codes, standards, and best practices</li><li>
Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills</li><li>
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines</li><li>
Top-notch organization, attention to detail combined with excellent written and oral communication skills</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>
Proficiency in BIM, CFD, Energy Modeling or other advanced tools and methods for HVAC design and analysis</li><li>
Certification from ASHRAE, LEED, or other relevant organizations</li><li>
Experience in green building or energy efficiency projects, such as LEED, ENERGY STAR, or USGBC</li><li>
Commissioning experience</li><li>
Plumbing design experience</li></ul>
