We're looking for supplemental staff for the Fayette County Jail in Somerville, TN. Our PRN Licensed Practical Nurse will be able to notify the HSA what days they are available and assist with gaps in the schedule. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a correctional setting. As an LPN, you will work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care while adhering to established protocols and standards.</p><ul><li>
Facility: County Jail housing both male &amp; female detainees &amp; sentenced inmates, capacity of 189</li><li>
Location: 35 miles east of Memphis in Somerville, TN</li><li><b>

Schedule:</p><ul><li>
PRN, 12-hour shifts</li></ul><p>
Correctional LPN Duties:</p><ul><li>
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists in the evaluation of the physical and mental health of incarcerated patients both in the medical department and in the housing units</li><li>
Collaborates with security, mental health, and other medical staff in all aspects of patient care</li><li>
Must be able to remain focused and perform duties in a fast-paced, often stressful environment</li><li>
Uses Standard Precautions to always administer medical care with respect and dignity under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or medical practitioner in accordance with established MedTrust Policies and Procedures</li><li>
Responds to medical and mental health emergencies throughout the facility using approved protocols</li><li>
Documents all patient encounters using the appropriate MAR or SOAPE form of charting (paper and/or EMR) as required by MedTrust policy and procedure</li><li>
Administers medications according to all medication administration rights and in accordance with MedTrust Policies and Procedures and any specific practitioner directions. Medications may be given PO, IM, or IV (when certified) and patients will be monitored for adverse drug reactions.</li><li>
Assists the health care practitioner in clinic or during minor medical/surgical procedures as needed</li><li>
Communicates information to nursing staff, physician, health care unit supervisory personnel, and other staff as necessary.</li><li>
Completes diagnostic testing when ordered including EKGs and lab collection (blood and urine) when certified. Communicates results with the provider as appropriate</li><li>
Attends mandatory monthly staff meetings and annual trainings.</li><li>
Keeps an accurate perpetual count of all sharps (including but not limited to needles, syringes, scissors, etc.) and all narcotics and controlled substances</li><li>
Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p>
Skills:</p><ul><li>
Experience working in an Outpatient, Primary care, Med-Surg or Urgent Care facility is preferred.</li><li>
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and the ability to perform basic lab tests.</li><li>
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and patient care.</li><li>
Ability to work collaboratively and independently within a multidisciplinary team environment.</li></ul><p>
Requirements:</p><ul><li>
Must submit to a criminal background check and obtain/maintain security clearance</li><li>
Valid, unrestricted LPN license in TN</li><li>
Valid BLS (AHA or ARC)</li><li>
1 year experience (preferred)</li><li>
Corrections experience (highly desired)</li></ul><p>
