<div>Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the physician(s) in the clinic, the Certified Medical Assistant assists in the delivery of primary health care and patient case management. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the physician in clinical and administrative functions.
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Performs patient care services
</li><li><ul><li>Monitors patient flow to assure best use of physician time
</li><li>Monitors patients to assure their comfort, privacy, and safety
</li><li>Obtains vitals, chief complaint, and current history for each patient and prepares them for exam; Communicates patient/family healthcare needs to the appropriate healthcare provider
</li><li>Reports significant events and situations to healthcare provider
</li><li>Assists physician during any minor procedures as requested
</li><li>Administers appropriate medication as ordered by physician under their direct supervision
</li><li>Documents effectiveness of medication administered
</li><li>Completes appropriate laboratory tests, or prepares request forms for appropriate tests ordered by provider; Schedules as necessary
</li><li>Participates in patient/family teaching within knowledgeable areas
</li></ul></li><li>Performs clinical and administrative functions
</li><li><ul><li>Assures concise reporting and documentation of information
</li><li>Requests/sends medical records or test results from/to appropriate departments
</li><li>Gathers all laboratory test results and attaches to patient's chart per physician's request
</li><li>Completes scheduled and non-scheduled duties; Utilizes and accounts for all resources
</li><li>Cleans and stocks examination and minor procedure rooms for each patient and procedure per OSHA standards
</li><li>Ensures all patient care equipment is in proper working order
</li>Prepares medical/procedural equipment for sterilization

Required Education : High School or GED and a Vocational/Technical Diploma from a medical assistant program. 
<div></div><div>Required Certification : Valid and current medical assistant certification from an accredited program (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, CCMA)

</li></ul>Work Environment : Work is generally performed in a healthcare environment. Exposure to chemicals which may be used in patient care.
Physical Demands : Ability to lift, push, pull and position patients or equipment. Frequent reaching, sitting walking, and standing may be required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling or everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job.</div></div>

Medical Assistant, Certified - Internal Medicine Physicians - Days - FT

The Memorial Specialty Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant renders medical care to patients within the specialty care setting of clinic offices and is responsible for management of acute episodic problems and stable chronic conditions in addition to health promotion and disease prevention in conjunction with physicians and other healthcare staff. The nurse practitioner communicates care needs with patients, families, and the healthcare team for the continuance of care. The nurse practitioner identities and implements best practices to achieve improved outcomes and greater effectiveness of patient care.</div>
 <div><ul><li>Provides specialty patient care services including management of acute episodic problems and stable chronic conditions, health promotion and disease prevention as allowed by scope of practice
<ul><li>Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problem
</li><li>Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets the results
</li><li>Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care
</li><li>Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources
</li><li>Reviews daily plan of care and analyzes complex patient care concerns to modify the plan of care based on the patient's response to treatment and evaluates the overall plan for effectiveness; Collaborate with supervising physicians concerning patient care as appropriate
</li><li>Institutes care that might be required to stabilize a patient's condition in an emergency or potentially life-threatening situation
</li><li>Manages general medical and surgical conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities
</li><li>Evaluates patient medication regimen and prescribes pharmacological agents as allowed by Federal and State laws and authorized by licensing entity
</li><li>Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to practice area
</li><li>Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in patients' medical record
</li><li>Correctly perform advanced procedures as allowed by state nurse practice act
</li></ul></li><li>Communicates patient/family health care needs as appropriate for continuance of care
<ul><li>Communicates and interacts with patients, families, and visitors of all age groups
</li><li>Identifies expected patient outcomes in collaboration with patient, family, and other professionals
</li><li>Counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion
</li><li>Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other substances such as food supplements, over the counter medications and herbal remedies
</li><li>Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice and/or expertise
</li><li>Serves as a resource for patients, families, and staff
</li></ul></li><li>Provides ongoing identification of best practices and implementation of those changes than lead to improved outcomes and greater effectiveness
<ul><li>Functions as a consultant and change agent for practice issues and quality improvement activities
</li><li>Provides ongoing assessment and facilitation of Core Measure compliance, Joint Commission, and performance improvement efforts and implementation of appropriate change
</li><li>Contribute to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others upon request
</li><li>Critically evaluate and modify existing practice based upon current research findings</li></ul></li></ul></div>
 <div>Nurse Practitioner:
Education: Master's Degree from Nursing program from an accredited school of nursing
Experience: Two (2) years Clinical experience as a staff Registered Nurse (RN).
Licensure: Certification as a Professional Nurse Practitioner in Mississippi.
Physician Assistant:
Education: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) with a Master's Degree.
License: Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) with Current license to practice in the State of Mississippi as a Physician Assistant .
