 Histotechnologist &ndash; Lourdes Hospital
 
 
 
 
 Job Summary
 
 
 
 The Histotechnologist will perform various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by the Pathologist. The Histology Technologist needs to ensure tissue specimens received from surgical, diagnostic, or autopsy cases are sorted, logged, and prioritized according to the standards required. This role has a greater focus on troubleshooting, problem-solving, and methodology, which contains fewer common techniques and requires a deeper understanding of the chemistry and diseases behind tissue identification and test selection.
 
 
 
 Essential Functions
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Performs histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists the Pathologist in the gross examination of surgical specimens and in frozen section procedures
 </li>
 <li>
 Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
 </li>
 <li>
 Document problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions when needed
 </li>
 <li>
 Operates and maintains all histology area lab equipment in the proper state of readiness, cleanliness, and sharpens and hone microtome knives
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitors inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used, and places orders for replacements as required
 </li>
 <li>
 Other duties as assigned
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Required Education
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Lab Science, Chemistry, or Biology
 </li>
 <li>
 Bachelors, Lab Science, Chemistry, or Biology (required) for BSMH.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 For RSFH, as of 4/21/25, new hires are required to have Bachelors for RSFH.
 
 
 
 Certifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Histotechnologist (HLT) Certification by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (preferred, not required)
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Experience
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 One year of Histology experience preferred, not required
 </li>
 <li>
 One year of Clinical Lab experience preferred, not required
 
 
 </li>

 Job Summary
 
 
 
 The Anesthesia Tech will perform various patient care, safety, and technical duties to support anesthesia and nursing teams in surgical and procedural areas. The Anesthesia Technician responds to patient-specific needs including blood, medications, supply, and equipment during the surgical procedure. This position is an active member of the Anesthesia OR emergency response/code team and assures all emergency safety equipment is available and in working order.
 
 
 
 Essential Job Functions
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Assists with anesthesia and other supplies as needed, medication management within scope of practice as directed by anesthesia and pharmacy.
 </li>
 <li>
 Organizes anesthesia supplies &amp;/or equipment to ensure availability. Responds to needs of anesthesia providers.
 </li>
 <li>
 Cleans and disinfects instruments, high level disinfection and processing.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists with patients at risk for malignant hyperthermia and other duties within scope.
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs anesthesia machine testing and support in various areas throughout the hospital.
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs patient identification procedures to ensure proper delivery of blood products and medications.
 </li>
 <li>
 Operates surgical equipment under the direction of a licensed provider.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures all Operating Rooms, and pre/post rooms are adequately stocked with appropriate quantity of supplies and required equipment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensures Operating Rooms, procedure and pre/post rooms are cleaned and prepared for the next patient to ensure safe and efficient operation.
 </li>
 <li>
 Cleans equipment and implements infection control policies to support the anesthesia practices in surgical and procedural areas.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists anesthesia and nursing with patient care, patient equipment, and environmental maintenance activities in the Operating Room.
 </li>
 <li>
 Helps with room turnover which includes stocking and cleaning and wiping down anesthesia carts between cases.
 </li>
 <li>
 Sterile processing duties that involve sterilization, high level disinfection and cleaning and disinfection of instruments and equipment.
