 Merit Coffee is opening in Houston, and we&rsquo;re looking for a Lead Barista who&rsquo;s ready to help set the tone for an entirely new market. This is more than a barista role &mdash; you&rsquo;ll be a culture carrier, a standard-setter, and a key part of building a high-performing team from day one.
 
 
 
 What You&rsquo;ll Do
 
 
 
 <ul>

 Lead by example on bar, delivering exceptional coffee and hospitality

 Support daily operations including opening/closing procedures
 </li>
 <li>
 Coach and guide baristas on drink quality, speed, and customer experience
 </li>
 <li>
 Help maintain consistency in standards, cleanliness, and workflow
 </li>

 Act as a goto resource for the team during shifts
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 What We&rsquo;re Looking For
 
 
 
 <ul>

 Previous barista experience preferred
 </li>
 <li>
 Natural leadership presence and strong communication skills
 </li>
 <li>
 High attention to detail and pride in craft
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to stay calm and efficient in a fastpaced environment
 </li>

 </li>

 Compensation &amp; Training Pay

 Base Pay: $11/hour
 </li>
 <li>
 Training Differential: +$9/hour while in training
 </li>
 <li>
 This differential is designed to help bridge the gap while tip share is not yet available during training
 
 
 </li>

 Training &amp; Travel Requirement (Important)

 3week paid training in San Antonio prior to Houston store opening

 Must be available for travel during this time

 At Merit Coffee, team members receive an hourly base pay, which is the guaranteed amount earned for each hour worked. In addition to base pay, employees participate in a tip pool, where tips from customers are combined and distributed among eligible team members based on the hours they work.
 
 
 For our San Antonio caf&eacute;s, the current base pay is $9.00 per hour. Team members also receive an average tip rate of approximately $9.00 per hour through the shared tip pool. This means that while the $9.00 base pay is guaranteed, the average total hourly earnings typically come out to around $18.00 per hour when tips are included. The exact tip rate may vary slightly depending on factors such as caf&eacute; traffic, seasonality, and overall customer tipping.
 
 
 This structure allows team members to earn a reliable hourly wage while also benefiting from the success of the caf&eacute; and the generosity of our customers.
