Location: Metfab Engineering, Inc. in North Attleborough, MA 
Schedule: Full-Time | On-site</h1>
Position Overview: We are seeking a purchasing manager to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the company and is responsible for maintaining supplier relations by obtaining the best source for material needs. This individual should be highly motivated with the ability to prioritize and work independently once trained. This person will be responsible for the procurement of parts and materials for production and maintaining stock inventory. Identify suppliers, compare and negotiate price and lead time with vendors. Complete related purchase orders and reports, and maintain files. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate across departments to ensure that operations are smooth and uninterrupted.
The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. They should have the ability to maintain accurate detailed records. This person must possess the ability to identify and resolve problems, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and handle a fast-paced work environment. They should be self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision.
Core Responsibilities Include:<ul><li>
Process purchase orders and requisitions in a timely manner, ensuring quality, service, quantity, delivery, and cost in accordance with organizational objectives and sourcing strategies.</li><li>
Research and locate vendors. Investigate and analyze the best sources of parts. Obtain comparative prices on a regular basis to ensure the best possible value. Maintain current cost data for all purchased items.</li><li>
Update and maintain vendor files, purchasing records and the company database. Process purchasing reports, document value added through cost savings/avoidances, lead time and quality improvements.</li><li>
Track and resolve purchasing, inventory and invoice problem/discrepancy questions as applicable.</li><li>
Establish and maintain professional business relationships with our supply chain partners.</li><li>
Keep management advised of changes in the schedule of materials due, as well as communicate any significant problems in a timely manner.</li><li>
Support the Quality Manager with any supplier related nonconformances including but not limited to, communicating NCR's to the supplier, follow up on corrective actions and cost recovery.</li><li>
Assist the Quality Manager with analysis of relevant supplier data including but not limited to, frequency and cost of supplier nonconformances as well as ABC analysis of suppliers.</li><li>
Participate in the yearly review of the general purchasing situation based on supplier performance in cooperation with our parent company.</li><li>
Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.</li></ul>
Preferred Experience and Skills:<ul><li>
5-7 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment</li><li>
Knowledge of vendor sourcing and purchasing procedures</li><li>
Experience in the metal fabrication industry</li><li>
Experience with electronic ordering</li><li>
Ability to read mechanical drawings preferred</li><li>
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required</li></ul>
Education Requirements<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required</li></ul>
Physical and Mental Requirements<ul><li>
Physical Requirement: Balancing; climbing; bending; stooping; crawling; some light, moderate, heavy lifting and carrying; must have fine motor skills; be able to grasp small items; kneeling; pushing; reaching above shoulder; pulling hand over hand; ability to do a repetitive motion; and the ability to sit, stand and walk for most of the day. Mobility requirement enough to move around the production area safely and various types of customer locations</li><li>
Visual Requirement: Must be able to visually read documents, read from a computer screen, see system details</li><li>
Hearing Requirement: Must be able to hear and speak on the phone and in person to convey information. Must be able to identify hazard sounds and be aware of the environment on the production floor/customer sites for safety</li><li>
Mental Requirement: Comprehension, Organization, Reasoning, Decision Making, Communication, and Mathematics</li></ul>
