We are seeking a buyer to join our supply chain team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and fostering a relationship with our suppliers and vendors. This position will be responsible for purchasing and inventory planning activities for our manufacturing organization, measuring its performance, and ensuring reliable and timely supply of material availability to support operations while simultaneously managing material costs.
Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement &amp; Supplier Management<ul><li>Lead procurement, sourcing, and contracting of materials, supplies, equipment, and services.</li><li>Source, select, and negotiate the best purchase packages based on quality, price, terms, delivery, and service.</li><li>Maintain strong vendor relationships, track performance, and provide ongoing feedback to drive improvement.</li><li>Develop metrics and performance dashboards to evaluate and improve supplier performance.</li><li>Resolve supplier issues related to pricing, quality, delivery, or invoices.</li><li>Work with overseas vendors and coordinate import logistics with freight carriers to ensure timely delivery.</li><li>Review late-order reports and collaborate with suppliers on corrective actions to improve delivery performance.</li></ul>
Material Availability, Inventory Management &amp; Planning<ul><li>Ensure continuous supply of required materials and proactively communicate any risks or potential disruptions.</li><li>Maintain adequate inventory levels to support the production schedule while preventing excess stock.</li><li>Lead the development of purchasing strategies that maximize material availability and optimize inventory levels.</li><li>Coordinate with sales and manufacturing on custom-order parts to ensure on-time delivery to customers.</li></ul>
Cross-Functional Collaboration<ul><li>Partner with Engineering on new product development and support related purchasing activities.</li><li>Process engineering change orders to ensure uninterrupted material flow for production.</li><li>Support internal departments by providing timely and accurate quotations for cost analysis and projects.</li></ul>
Data, Reporting &amp; Systems Management<ul><li>Develop and maintain detailed procurement and inventory reports using advanced Excel tools (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data visualizations) to monitor trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support decision-making.</li><li>Maintain vendor and raw material data inside and outside the ERP system with a high level of accuracy.</li><li>Oversee the maintenance of purchasing records, delivery dates, vendor information, cost histories, and related documentation.</li><li>Maintain an updated list of preferred vendors with complete and accurate contact information.</li></ul>
Continuous Improvement &amp; Issue Resolution<ul><li>Research and evaluate cost-reduction opportunities across materials, vendors, and processes.</li><li>Develop and implement corrective action plans for defective, late, or otherwise non-conforming goods.</li></ul>
Requirements:

 Qualifications<ul><li>3&ndash;5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment</li><li>Strong negotiation and vendor management skills</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Proficiency with ERP systems</li><li>Advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel</li><li>Strong analytical ability with proven capability to interpret and evaluate data</li><li>Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy</li><li>Ability to multi-task effectively with sound judgment and prioritization</li><li>Flexible and able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment</li><li>Self-motivated and proactive with strong problem-solving skills</li><li>Collaborative team player</li></ul>

Physical Requirements: Ability to work in office, lab, and shop floor environment; occasional lifting of up to 25lbs; ability to perform testing &amp; evaluation functions in an enclosed environmental chamber.
