 <div>TITLE: Care Attendant
REPORTS TO: Housing Manager
$1,000 Sign on bonus!
Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services designed to maintain the resident's physical and emotional wellbeing.
Qualifications: A CNA/NAR or HHA certificate is preferred, but not required. The Care Attendant must possess sensitivity and aptitude for working with the elderly. The Care Attendant is required to have an ability to read, write and speak English, and complete and pass a state required background study form which checks for certain criminal convictions or serious maltreatment.
General Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Assist the resident with personal cares which may include all or some of the following: shampooing of hair, assist with showering, rubbing with lotions, fingernail cares and foot cares if instructed to do so, medication administration, redirection of a confused resident, and all activities of daily living as assigned
</li><li>Assist with dressing, grooming and oral cares as assigned
</li><li>Assist in use of hearing aids and glasses for residents
</li><li>Help each resident to reach and maintain the highest level of performance. Promote independence, not dependence, with residents offering choices and fostering self-help skills.
</li><li>Assist with treatments as delegated by the Registered Nurse
</li><li>Observe residents and report changes in physical and emotional condition such as change in attitude, loss of appetite, weight, etc. Report changes to RN.
</li><li>Medication administration/assistance as delegated by RN
</li><li>Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respi r ation as instructed
</li><li>Assist with meal preparation as needed as directed following special meal plans
</li><li>Follows cleaning schedule per shift worked
</li><li>Lead/assist resident activities as scheduled and assigned
</li><li>Understand and adhere to the Vulnerable Adult and abuse policy, Bill of Rights and HIPPA.
</li></ul><ul><li>Apply principles of good body mechanics when lifting and moving objects. Use transfer techniques consistent with proper body mechanics.
</li><li>Participate in disaster planning drills (fire, tornado, severe weather, etc.) when on duty.
</li><li>Maintain awareness and adheres to use of safety devices according to the care plan and suggests their use when appropriate.
</li><li>Develop knowledge of actions to be implemented in emergency situations.
</li><li>Practice fire safety and accident prevention procedures.
</li><li>Follow all policies and procedures governing the operation of Minnewaska Community Health Services.
</li></ul><ul><li>Attend In-service training as assigned
</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to read, write and speak English and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos
</li><li>Ability to write simple correspondence and documentation on each resident
</li><li>Ability to effectively present information on one-to-one and small group situations to customers, residents and other employees of the organization
</li></ul><ul><li>Must understand and communicate medical terminology
</li><li>Must be punctual, with a good attendance record
</li><li>Must use kind tone of voice, remaining calm in difficult or unusual circumstances
</li><li>Must be able to prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently
</li><li>Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations
</li><li>Must be compassionate and work with tact and ethical awareness
</li><li>Must work as a team member with other personnel and R.N
</li><li>Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills
</li><li>Must obtain 8 hours Dementia Training within 80 hours of start of employment- ALDC Licensed Facilities Only
</li><li>Must obtain 8 hours Dementia Training within 160 hours of start of employment- AL Licensed Facilities Only
</li><li>Completes required education and Dementia Training annually thereafter
</li><li>Other duties as assigned
