ROLE: Data Engineer

<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Platform &amp; Pipeline Development</h3>
<ul><li>Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and Python.</li>
<li>Build and manage streaming data pipelines using Event Hubs and KQL for near real‑time data ingestion.</li>
<li>Transform and optimise data through bronze, silver, and gold layers within a modern Data Lakehouse architecture.</li>
<li>Manage ingestion from diverse data sources including CAFM systems, finance, Salesforce, IoT, and HR systems.</li>
<li>Work across Azure and Cloudera environments to deliver scalable data solutions.</li>
</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Data Quality &amp; Governance</h3>
<ul><li>Ensure data integrity through embedded data quality checks across pipelines.</li>
<li>Use Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines to manage deployment and lifecycle of data solutions.</li>
<li>Maintain data governance standards, including data lineage, dictionaries, and documentation.</li>
<li>Perform root cause analysis on data issues and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve upstream problems.</li>
</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Collaboration &amp; Optimisation</h3>
<ul><li>Build large, complex datasets aligned to business requirements.</li>
<li>Review and optimise SQL, Python, and KQL scripts for performance and scalability.</li>
<li>Conduct performance analysis of pipelines and recommend improvements.</li>
<li>Work closely with Analysts and BI Developers to deliver &quot;Gold Standard&quot; datasets.</li>
<li>Communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.</li>
</ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Required Qualifications</h2>

Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.
<ul>
<li>Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric and the Azure Data Stack (ADF, Synapse, Data Lake).</li>
<li>Advanced skills in Python, PySpark, and SQL.</li>
<li>Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines.</li>
<li>Exposure to Kusto Query Language (KQL) and Event Hubs (desirable).</li>
<li>Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and Azure DevOps.</li>
<li>Knowledge of big data platforms such as Cloudera/Hadoop (desirable).</li>
<li>Proven experience (3+ years) in a Data Engineer role.</li>
<li>Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related quantitative discipline.</li>

This role sits across analytics, data modelling, and emerging data science, working with large datasets to produce meaningful, actionable outcomes.

<ul><li>Lead delivery of advanced analytics, identifying trends, anomalies, root causes, and performance drivers.</li>
<li>Transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights and business narratives for stakeholders.</li>
<li>Build and maintain semantic data models, ensuring data is structured for intuitive reporting and deep analysis.</li>
<li>Develop and optimise SQL and Python (Pandas) pipelines to prepare and curate Gold‑standard datasets.</li>
<li>Design, manage, and monitor data pipelines, ensuring reliability and scalability.</li>
<li>Work across Silver, Gold, and Semantic layers within a Medallion Architecture.</li>
<li>Troubleshoot upstream data issues and ensure outputs are built on reliable data foundations.</li>
<li>Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, challenge assumptions, and deliver value‑driven solutions.</li>
<li>Communicate analytical outputs clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.</li>
<li>Work closely with Engineers and Analysts to ensure consistent, high‑quality data outputs across the lifecycle.</li>

Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role.

<li>Strong experience with SQL and Python (Pandas) for end‑to‑end data manipulation.</li>
<li>Experience working within the Azure data stack (Microsoft Fabric preferred).</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of Power BI or similar visualisation tools.</li>
<li>Experience working with Medallion Architecture (Silver, Gold, Semantic layers).</li>
<li>Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and orchestration tools (e.g. Azure Data Factory).</li>
<li>Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into business insights.</li>
<li>Experience working with large datasets and delivering scalable analytical solutions.</li>

This role spans analytics engineering, solution architecture, and lightweight application development, working across Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Python, SQL, and React to turn data into actionable, business‑driven solutions.

<ul><li>Design, build, and maintain data‑driven solutions to optimise processes and deliver new capabilities.</li>
<li>Develop and enhance analytics solutions across Microsoft Fabric and Azure platforms.</li>
<li>Contribute to the wider Azure environment, including Azure Functions, Container Apps, and Key Vault.</li>
<li>Support the development of AI‑powered tools such as natural language query agents, semantic retrieval, and RAG pipelines.</li>
