<div>Job consists of overseeing care and proper upkeep of exhibits and animals in their area of responsibility. Responsibility of insuring all displays are ready for guests and job tasks are completed on a daily basis. Assists Assistant Curators and Animal Husbandry Manager with staff supervision and as assigned. 
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. 
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Professional Animal Care<ul><li>
Be knowledgeable about natural history, behavior and conservation of collection species in areas of responsibility, including individual specimen histories</li><li>
Assist with animal acquisitions</li><li>
Research husbandry and natural history information on prospective acquisitions</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about animal capture, restraint and transport procedures</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about Moody Gardens accepted animal husbandry policies, procedures and routines</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about water quality system mechanics and maintenance</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about disease diagnosis and treatment protocol</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about larval/infant care and appropriate husbandry and/or hand rearing techniques</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about medical treatment as directed by the veterinarian</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about animal nutrition &amp; pest control measures</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about pest control measures</li><li>
Perform daily routines as scheduled or when needed</li><li>
Demonstrate staff development through hands on training and mentoring</li><li>
Demonstrate personal professional development within and outside Moody Gardens (professional organizations, networks, etc.)</li></ul> 
Communication<ul><li>
Communicate regularly with staff through department meetings, individual meetings and written memos or instructions</li><li>
Meet with Assistant Curator to plan day&rsquo;s events, projects, etc., daily or as appropriate.</li><li>
Maintain animal records</li><li>
Conduct tours for guests/visitors and relate facility and animal knowledge</li><li>
Conduct public presentations</li><li>
Orient and train new Biologists</li><li>
Convey relevant species and specimen information to animal and education staff</li><li>
Represent the Moody Gardens and the L.S. &amp;E.O. Department in media events</li></ul>
Supervision of Personnel<ul><li>
Direct Biologists in all aspects of animal care</li><li>
Train Biologists in relevant facility, animal and safety procedures</li><li>
Know department and facility rules, policies and procedures, instruct employees, implement policies and procedures</li><li>
Coordinate with Assistant Curator to assure exhibit readiness for opening, schedule employees, and arrange for shift coverage when necessary</li><li>
Set example for Biologists by reporting to work on time and maintaining a clean, professional appearance</li></ul>
Facility maintenance<ul><li>
Maintain all facilities, exhibits and equipment within area of responsibility.</li><li>
Maintain supplies necessary for all aspects of exhibit maintenance.</li><li>
Demonstrate knowledge about work order processes, ordering/requisition processes, price agreements and petty cash procedures.</li><li>
Demonstrate knowledge about cleaning/disinfection procedures.</li><li>
Be knowledgeable about basic exhibit landscape maintenance and exhibit decoration</li><li>
Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens</li></ul> 
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Bachelor's Degree with major course work in Biology, Zoology or related field and 5 years professional animal care experience or a relevant combination of education and experience</li><li>
Must be a certified S.C.U.B.A. certified diver if required in work area</li><li>
Current member of professional organizations, including AZA that support professional growth and Moody Gardens&rsquo; operations</li><li>
Must have valid driver&rsquo;s license, truck and van experience</li></ul>

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Subject to possibility of bites, stings and other work related biological risks</li><li>
Work in water, both man- made and natural, with temperatures ranging from 45 &ndash; 90o</li><li>
Heavy lifting (50 pounds or more), walking and working within a wet environment</li><li>
Outdoor work on occasion, under variety of conditions: cold weather, hot weather, rain, mud, ocean environments, and dry land</li><li>

<div>The person in this position is responsible for performing introductory-level, administrative, and secretarial duties in support of the various activities in the Human Resources Department. The Benefits clerk must be able to take direction, work independently to accomplish tasks, work as an effective member of a team, and use good judgment in making decisions and setting priorities.
Basic responsibilities will be responding to employee benefits inquiries, reporting Workman&rsquo;s Compensation claims, inputting accident and claims information into the HRIS system, assisting with employee benefit enrollments, reconciling monthly insurance billings, maintaining filing of insurance forms, preparing 401k reports, filing, and general keyboarding. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with new employee onboarding, the distribution, handling, and inventory control of company issued uniforms, and routing incoming mail. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
<ul><li>
Acts as an insurance/benefits receptionist for employees seeking assistance, new employees, vendors, etc.
</li><li>Provides information to applicants, employees and guests, and receives information relative to insurance and benefits issues, passing such on to the Benefits Coordinator.</li><li>
Establishes and maintains a variety of files and records, including insurance claims, enrollment forms, as required.</li><li>
Coordinates meetings, conferences and appointments for HR Benefits Coordinator and advises of same.</li><li>
Provides clerical support to the HR Benefits coordinator, and when needed the HR Director.</li><li>
Acts as a receptionist for drop-in applicants, employees seeking assistance, new employees, vendors, etc.
</li><li>Assists answering the main HR telephone line, and the Benefit Coordinators line, if requested, and takes accurate messages or routes calls, as needed.</li><li>
Prepares and sends monthly eligibility notices to applicable employees</li><li>
Receives, classifies, and routes incoming mail.</li><li>
When requested, may coordinate training classroom and ensure that all necessary orientation materials are available.</li><li>
Assist to Inventory uniforms as received to ensure that orders are filled appropriately, then distributes uniforms as required ie&hellip;shoes, badges, shirts</li><li>
Assist with placing uniform orders to maintain sufficient stock to meet staffing needs.</li><li>
Assist with responding to inquiries from various governmental agencies, as required, by assembling necessary data from files and personnel jackets.</li><li>
Supports New Hire onboarding Paperwork process, takes photos for Employee Badge and may assist with Orientation when necessary.</li><li>
Independently prepares recurring reports as necessary.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul> 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:<ul><li>
Advanced Knowledge of Excel workbooks</li><li>
Training or experienced in basic accounting principals</li><li>
Extensive knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, office practices and procedures, including record-keeping methods and practices.
</li><li>Ability to learn and be able to answer questions on company benefits, programs, and policies which may have an impact on the Company and/or the department.</li><li>
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with the public, whether in person or on the telephone, and all levels of employees and management.</li><li>
Skilled in the use of standard office machines and equipment.</li><li>
Ability to be flexible with changing situations and demands, and assume responsibility when necessary.</li><li>
Ability to deal with employee issues in a sensitive and confidential manner.</li></ul>
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent, with supplementary related work in an office environment</li><li>
Minimum of two (2) years&rsquo; responsible experience, preferably in a Human Resources environment.</li><li>
Bilingual, (Spanish/English) both written and spoken, are preferred.</li><li>
Familiar with computer systems, especially Microsoft Office.</li></ul>
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS:
Frequent (daily) contact with employees from top management to front-line production employees. Contact with job applicants, insurance representatives, employment agencies and recruitment sources, bank representatives, doctors and hospitals, legal officials, and federal, state, and local reporting agencies.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Individual should be able to exercise sound judgment, be able to plan, be well organized, have excellent oral and written communication skills, use tact and diplomacy when needed, work well under pressure, take the initiative on problems, and be flexible and cooperative.
