Experience in related fields, including municipal law, litigation involving labor and employment issues, collective bargaining, conflicts of interest, and/or related issues is welcome but not required. We offer a competitive salary and benefits, potential for growth, and an opportunity to work in a collegial atmosphere with experts in the field.Position Description:MLM is a management-side law firm representing school districts and municipalities throughout Massachusetts. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing legal counsel, representation, advocacy, and litigation services to our clients, with a particular focus on labor and employment matters, including the following:<ul><li>Providing strategic counsel on employment law matters, including anti-discrimination and anti-harassment laws, employee discipline, performance evaluations, wage and hour issues, unemployment, leave policies, and compliance with state and federal regulations.</li><li>Negotiating and drafting collective bargaining agreements and employment contracts for union and non-union employees</li><li>Representing, defending, and advocating for school and town clients in arbitrations and litigation at state and federal courts and administrative agencies</li><li>Preparing and representing witnesses</li><li>Conducting and advising clients on internal investigations, including Title IX</li><li>Drafting and amending school and town policies and employee handbooks</li><li>Conducting legal research and communicating advice to clients</li><li>Providing trainings to elected officials and school administrators</li><li>Performing similar or related work as required</li></ul>This position requires daily in-person work and travel to our offices located conveniently off the Braintree Split (interchange of I-93, US-1, and Route 3 in Braintree, MA), as well as to schools, towns, and courts throughout Massachusetts as needed. Annual billable hour requirement of 1800 hours. Early morning, evening, and/or weekend work may be required depending on client needs.Required Skills:<ul><li>Strong advocacy and courtroom experience</li><li>Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to negotiate and draft collective bargaining agreements and employment contracts</li><li>Ability to draft and file legal documents, including discovery requests and responses, pleadings, memoranda, orders, findings of fact and rulings of law, trial documents, witness preparation questions, and mediation memoranda</li><li>Knowledge of the rules of evidence, civil procedure, and appellate procedure</li><li>Ability to understand complex information and provide legal advice in a clear and concise manner</li><li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently</li><li>Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and exciting work environment</li><li>Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential issues</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>Member of the Massachusetts bar in good standing</li><li>At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience, preferably in the fields of civil litigation and labor/employment, municipal, and/or education law</li></ul>Compensation and Benefits:<ul><li>Starting Salary Range: $115,000 to $125,000, commensurate with qualifications</li><li>Performance-Based Bonuses</li><li>Excellent Benefits Package, including:</li></ul>o Paid Leaveo Health and Dental Insuranceo Life Insuranceo Short and Long-Term Disability Insuranceo 401(k) Matcho Profit SharingDeadline:Open until filled, preference given to candidates applying before October 1, 2025.Qualified applicants should submit the following application documents:1.
