<div>POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an inquisitive and creative Senior Scientist to initiate, direct and execute pre-product scientific research. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problem solving. Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Must have experience with next-generation DNA/RNA sequencing, general nucleic-acid technologies 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul><li>Contributes substantially and intellectually to research and development
</li>
<li>Leads projects to create and develop novel nucleic acid or protein based diagnostic tests; including planning, feasibility testing, protocol development, optimization, verification, validation, and launch
</li>
<li>Responsible for executing projects as per associated timelines and deliverables
</li>
<li>Thoroughly comprehends the objectives and vision of the work
</li>
<li>Develops plans, generates and advances new ideas
</li>
<li>Performs basic data analysis, including statistics
</li>
<li>Independently designs and executes moderate to high complexity experiments
</li>
<li>Coordinates the execution and analysis of effective experiments with statistics and bioinformatics teams
</li>
<li>Documents research progress under a Quality Management System
</li>
<li>May manage Research Associates
</li>
<li>May work with partners and outside collaborators
</li>
<li>Communicates progress directly with colleagues and senior management
</li>
<li>This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and has access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job
</li>
<li>Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
</li>
<li>Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.</li></ul> 

QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry or closely related field, or equivalent experience
</li>
<li>Senior Scientist with minimum of 5 years of industry experience or 2 years of post-doctoral research + 3 years of industry experience</li></ul> 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Must have hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and basic molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA, multiplex PCR, hybrid capture, digital PCR, epigenetic/methylation
</li>
<li>Experience in developing tests in liquid biopsy
</li>
<li>Must have experience in data analysis, statistics, data interpretation and results reporting.
</li>
<li>Track record of originating, developing and productizing novel nucleic acid techniques and tests
</li>
<li>Must have excellent communication, organizational, record-keeping, planning and time management skills
</li>
<li>Proven success in managing collaborative and individual projects, previous experience managing research associates a plus
</li>
<li>Demonstrated success in applying independent scientific judgment in experimental design and analysis
</li>
<li>Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
</li>
<li>Adept with data analysis and statistical testing using Excel, JMP, R or other data analysis environments
</li>
<li>Bioinformatics capabilities, programming (e.g. PERL, python) and database experience (SQL) are a plus
</li>
<li>Skilled at writing clear plans, reports and SOPs

Senior Scientist R&D

 Position Summary
 
 
 
 We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Scientist for reagent development and quality control assay development. The Scientist will join a cross-functional team of assay development scientists, bioinformaticians, and engineers who are tasked with developing the scalable and robust platforms that underlie many of Natera&rsquo;s clinical assays. In this role, the Scientist will contribute to new product development by characterizing reagent performance and risks, establishing quality control assays and manufacturing processes, and transferring the assays and processes to Operations. Candidates must have experience with reagent development and laboratory automation for next-generation sequencing-based clinical assays in an R&amp;D setting.
 
 
 
 Primary Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Plan, manage, and execute projects to meet requirements and timelines.
 </li>
 <li>
 Develop and optimize reagents (enzymes, buffers, oligonucleotides, etc.) for use in NGS-based clinical assays.
 </li>
 <li>
 Independently design and execute experiments for characterizing reagent performance, formulation, stability, and manufacturing tolerance.
 </li>
 <li>
 Design, develop, and validate quality control assays and associated analysis pipelines for incoming and manufactured reagents, either independently or in collaboration with other assay development scientists, automation engineers, and bioinformaticians.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform data analysis, interpret results, and decide on next steps.
 </li>
 <li>
 Document results, author SOPs, and coordinate tech transfer to the Operations team.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications

 Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or closely related field with 6+ years experience in assay development for the life science industry
 </li>
 <li>
 Master&rsquo;s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or closely related field with 4+ years experience in assay development for the life science industry.
 </li>
 <li>
 Doctorate in molecular biology, biochemistry, or closely related field with 1+ years experience in assay development for the life science industry.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 History of success in reagent development or quality control assay development in an R&amp;D environment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Extensive hands-on experience with various molecular biology techniques including but not limited to: next generation sequencing, PCR/qPCR, and nucleic acid extraction and quantification.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong understanding of molecular biology and the chemistry underlying nucleic acid extraction, PCR, library preparation, and next-generation sequencing.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to independently perform moderate to high complexity experiments either manually or with liquid handler support.
 </li>
 <li>
 Must be able to independently design and execute experiments, interpret results, and decide on next steps.
 </li>
 <li>
 Must have experience working with next-generation sequencing data and performing data analysis in Excel, JMP, or similar software.
 </li>
 <li>
 Must have good communication and time management skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Coding proficiency (Python or R) is a plus.
 </li>
 <li>
 Liquid handler method development experience is a plus.

 The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years &amp; depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
