Position Summary
The Department of Nursing, in the School of Health Professions at the National University invites applications for part-time faculty in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of or potential for excellence in teaching in their field and a commitment to serving the university&rsquo;s diverse adult student body. This position primarily works closely with the Academic Program Director and other faculty within the program and contributes to ensuring program quality, student engagement, and success.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Part-Time Faculty to join our highly engaged faculty in Nurse Practitioner program. As an integral and vital part of our teaching staff, the successful candidate will provide students with unique and valuable perspectives by helping them to develop critical thinking, communication, and therapeutic nursing skills within the framework of transcultural nursing.
Essential Job Duties:<ul><li>
Efficiently deliver didactic and/or clinical instruction online to students.</li><li>
Plan and deliver an effective &ldquo;classroom&rdquo; experience through Zoom, that promotes learning of course/program learning objectives and prepares the student to be a competent, beginning Nurse Practitioner.</li><li>
Effectively engage students, utilizing a variety of teaching methods.</li><li>
Evaluate students in classroom and clinical settings utilizing effective educational methods and tools.</li><li>
Grading assignments and responding to student inquires within 48 hours of assignment submission.</li><li>
Responding to student inquires via email within 24 hours of receipt of the email, thus providing timely feedback to students' questions and concerns.</li><li>
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty, both verbally and through written communication.</li><li>
Focus on student-centered learning in all aspects of curriculum.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:<ul><li>
Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, or Doctor of Nurse Practitioner with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialization.</li><li>
Active, current, and unencumbered PMHNP state license in either Texas or California required within 6 months of employment. Please see the Licensing Requirements section below for more details.</li><li>
Minimum of two 2 years&rsquo; current experience in a PMHNP role, including diagnosing and treating patients in a clinic setting.</li><li>
National board certification - PMHNP specific.</li><li>
Online higher education experience.</li><li>
Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining courses.</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>
Doctor of Nurse Practitioner with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialization.</li><li>
Experience with the following course topics is preferred: Introduction to Psychotherapy, Introduction to Psychotherapy Practicum, MH Care: Adults/Aging Adults, MH Adults/Aging Adults Practice.</li></ul>
Licensing Requirements:
To teach in this program, faculty are required to hold an active, current, and unencumbered PMHNP state license in California and Texas. Candidates must agree to obtain licenses in both California and Texas within 6 months of employment if they are not currently licensed in these states.
Candidates will be given consideration if they meet at least one of the following requirements:<ul><li>
Hold an active, current, and unencumbered PMHNP state license in California or Texas. Once hired, faculty are required to have both RN and FNP licenses in both California and Texas. The department will pay for new faculty to obtain their license in either California or Texas if the applicant holds one but not the other.</li><li>
Hold an active, current, and unencumbered PMHNP state-issued license from a state(s) other than California or Texas, and have an active application to obtain either a California or Texas license. The department will pay for new faculty to obtain their license in either California or Texas &ndash; whichever state the candidate is not already in the process of obtaining. Both California and Texas licenses must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.</li></ul>

Part-time Faculty, Master of Nursing - Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Position Summary
With strategic guidance, this position serves as a student-focused, dynamic Reference &amp; Instruction Librarian. The librarian will provide reference and instruction services for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, including high-level reference assistance to students completing dissertation work. The Librarian will create and maintain synchronous and asynchronous library instruction, assist with collection development, manage subject resources, and provide outreach to the NU community.
Essential Functions:<ul><li>
Provides high-quality reference and instructional services to students, alums, faculty, and staff through various channels, including chat, text, phone, email, video conference, and other relevant modalities.</li><li>
Contributes to assessment efforts, which includes data collection and analysis, as well as co-curricular assessment of student learning</li><li>
Develops and maintains library instruction targeted to students through multiple modalities, both synchronous and asynchronous</li><li>
Provides instruction for graduate and undergraduate programs, conducts general instruction for general education courses, workshops, and facilitates webinars and event series as needed, including coverage for other liaisons. Actively participates in Library instruction initiatives.
</li><li>Collaborates with the entire library team to do collection development, assessment, and maintenance</li><li>
Serves as the primary Library contact and information resource for assigned programs. Represents the Library at school committees and meetings, supports faculty initiatives, and provides training for faculty and staff on library initiatives, resources, and services.</li><li>
Provides research support for faculty and staff by designing, advertising, and assessing faculty research support tools and initiatives.
</li><li>Selects and de-selects digital materials in assigned subject areas.
</li><li>Participates in Library and University committees and other operational groups as appropriate. Maintains active membership and involvement in local, state, regional, and/or national professional associations and societies. Stays current on disciplinary research and academic library services and resources through reading, involvement in professional organizations, conference attendance, and research.</li><li>
Participates in library team initiatives such as guide reviews, outreach, tutorials, events, and webinars as directed. Serves as a leader as assigned.</li></ul>

Requirements:
Education &amp; Experience:<ul><li>
Master&rsquo;s degree in Library Sciences, or its equivalent, from an ALA-accredited institution is required</li><li>
3-5 years or more of professional librarian experience required, or equivalent years of relevant experience.</li><li>
Second master&rsquo;s degree in a field outside of library science as evidence of scholarly training and understanding of disciplinary scholarship, desirable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.</li><li>
Experience providing distance and/or online library services preferred</li></ul>
Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills:
<ul><li>Knowledge of academic library subscription databases, systems, and technology, particularly Springshare Suites.</li><li>
Familiarity with library standards, guidelines, and best practices supported by national library organizations, such as ALA, ACRL, ARL, and DOLS.</li><li>
Excellent reference and instruction skills; capable of responding to patrons with patience and professionalism.</li><li>
Ability to think creatively, work independently, and adopt a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.</li><li>
Experience in designing and developing information literacy-based library instruction, including the assessment of skills and learning outcomes.
</li><li>Knowledge of instructional design theories, trends, and technologies, along with experience using synchronous and asynchronous delivery systems for library instruction.</li><li>
Evidence of the ability to employ various strategies to encourage retention and successfully engage diverse student populations with varying learning styles, information-seeking skills, and levels of technological competence.</li><li>
Solid critical thinking skills, attention to detail, initiative, independent judgment, problem-solving, follow-up, and follow-through skills; ability to conduct research on a variety of topics.
</li><li>Strong familiarity with user-facing library technology and interfaces within the adult learner environment, demonstrating a student-centered approach with a diverse student population.
