The role involves strategizing legal positions, preparing documentation,managing proceedings before adjudicating authorities, appellate forums (such as CESTAT),and supporting external counsel in high-stakes litigation.Key Responsibilities:1. Litigation Management:&#61623; Represent the company in indirect tax litigation matters before various authorities(Adjudicating Authority, Commissioner (Appeals), CESTAT, High Court, etc.).&#61623; Draft replies to Show Cause Notices (SCNs), appeals, written submissions, andrepresentations.&#61623; Assist in preparing briefs and documentation for external counsel and senioradvocates.&#61623; Maintain and manage a comprehensive litigation tracker and calendar of hearings.2. Legal Research &amp; Advisory:&#61623; Conduct detailed legal research on precedents, statutory provisions, and recentjudgments.&#61623; Interpret evolving legal provisions under GST, Customs, and pre-GST laws.&#61623; Provide legal advisory to business and finance teams on exposure and litigation risks.3. Departmental Liaison:&#61623; Handle audits, inquiries, and investigations conducted by tax authorities.&#61623; Appear before revenue officers and handle day-to-day tax department interactions.&#61623; Coordinate with consultants, law firms, and internal teams for litigation support.4. Documentation &amp; Compliance:&#61623; Prepare and maintain legal files, indexes, and case documentation.&#61623; Ensure timely filings of appeals, replies, and submissions within statutory deadlines.&#61623; Assist in internal reporting and MIS for tax litigation matters.Required Qualifications:&#61623; Educational Background:o LL.B. / LL.M. with specialization in Taxation Law, oro Chartered Accountant (CA) with litigation experience in indirect taxes.&#61623; Experience:o 3&ndash;8 years of hands-on experience in indirect tax litigation.o Exposure to GST regime and legacy indirect tax laws (Service Tax, VAT,Excise, Customs).o Experience in appearing before appellate authorities and drafting legaldocuments.Key Skills:&#61623; Strong knowledge of GST, Customs, VAT, and Excise laws.&#61623; Excellent legal drafting and research skills.&#61623; Familiarity with litigation processes and online portals (GSTN, ICEGATE, etc.).&#61623; Strong communication and argumentation skills.&#61623; High attention to detail and ability to handle complex litigation matters.Preferred Attributes:&#61623; Prior experience in a law firm, Big 4, or corporate legal department.&#61623; Ability to work independently and manage multiple litigation cases simultaneously.&#61623; Willingness to travel occasionally for hearings or departmental meetings.Job Type: Full-timeWork Location: In person
