Position Description: 
Network Runners is seeking a Senior Writer (Remote) that serves as a lead content creator responsible for producing high‑quality, original written materials that support U.S. Coast Guard Systems Integration communications across multiple platforms. This role requires exceptional writing and editorial skills, mastery of Associated Press (AP) style, strong research capabilities, and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging content for diverse internal and external audiences. 
 
Duties &amp; Responsibilities
<ul><li>Original News, Features &amp; Daily Briefs:
<ul><li>Write, edit, and proofread original news and feature articles for Coast Guard Systems Integration and Coast Guard publications, platforms, and communication channels&mdash;not limited to the Systems integration public website.</li>
<li>Produce occasional articles supporting Systems Integration contributions to the official USCG blog.</li>
<li>Develop and distribute daily news briefs summarizing relevant acquisition‑related updates, media coverage, and internal developments.</li>
<li>Conduct interviews and gather source material to craft compelling, accurate, and timely stories that highlight acquisition programs, milestones, and personnel.</li>
<li>Ensure all written products adhere to AP style and Coast Guard editorial standards. 
</li></ul></li><li>Editorial &amp; Content Development:
<ul><li>Write, edit, and proofread a wide range of communication products, including fact sheets, media advisories, acquisition updates, white papers, newsletters, and other materials for internal and external stakeholders.</li>
<li>Contribute to the planning, writing, editing, and production of newsletters, ensuring timely delivery and high editorial quality.</li>
<li>Support the development of branded communication tools such as posters, brochures, trifolds, guides, charts, video scripts, and graphs.</li>
<li>Maintain and update standard templates for frequently used communication products to ensure consistency and brand alignment. 
</li></ul></li><li>Research &amp; Strategic Communication Support:
<ul><li>Provide research, planning, implementation, and evaluation support for acquisition‑related communication strategies, guidance, and plans.</li>
<li>Prepare read‑ahead materials and draft speeches, briefings, and talking points for leadership as needed.</li>
<li>Conduct research and assist in drafting responses to media inquiries and stakeholder information requests. 
</li></ul></li><li>Graphic &amp; Layout Support:
<ul><li>Provide writing support, graphic design, and layout for updates to Systems Integration fact sheets and other media and stakeholder outreach materials.</li>
<li>Collaborate with communication, design, and program teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and visual cohesion across all products.</li>
</ul></li></ul>Minimum Qualifications:
<ul><li>Minimum 7-10 years&rsquo; experience.</li>
<li>BA in English or Creative Writing</li>
<li>Must be proficient with AP writing style</li>
<li>Must be familiar with Coast Guard writing style</li>
<li>Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check and drug screen.</li>
<li>Be authorized to work in the US

Location Requirements: 
The position will primarily work remotely. All candidates must be based in the DC area for occasional visits to the office.
