New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking a Full-Time 40 hr./week Phlebotomist to join our Lewiston Clinic. The Phlebotomist will give top line care to a wide variety of patients dealing with cancer and blood disorders. Duties include phlebotomy, ability to collect samples using a variety of techniques, monitoring lab results as needed, scheduling follow-up lab appointments, entering and accessing patient information from the EMR, , inventorying, and managing supplies. The Phlebotomist is a vital member of the NECS care model and is often the first clinician that patients see during an appointment.
NECS is a private medical practice composed of 18 oncologists and hematologists serving the region from five separate locations in Maine and New Hampshire. . Job Duties:
<ul><li>Collects various blood samples using a variety of techniques including venipuncture in the antecubital region of the arm and smaller veins of the hand and wrist.</li><li>
Assesses each patient's vein structure and selects the appropriate needle size and equipment needed for a successful phlebotomy experience.</li><li>
Uses professional judgement and follows all practice HIPAA guidelines.</li><li>
Assisting patients in the lab area by filling lab prescriptions, reviewing labs being drawn, providing information on tests and what they accomplish and why they are needed.</li><li>
Assist physicians and lab staff with procedures as needed.</li></ul>
Monday-Friday work week, no nights.
Weekends: None 
Travel: Rare 
Experience and Skills:
Phlebotomist Qualifications<ul><li>
Must have a degree or certificate in Phlebotomy from an accredited program.
</li><li>Must have proven strong phlebotomy skills.</li><li>
Experience with and ability to understand patient medical records, physician's orders and medical orders.</li><li>
Understand and conduct yourself in accordance with accepted clinical standards and the ability to maintain strict HIPPA compliance.</li><li>
High level of computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR's) is required.</li><li>
Ability to communicate with patients, family members, co-workers, and providers in an effective and compassionate way.</li><li>
Must have high level oral and written communication skills, typing skills are required.</li></ul>

New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) . NECS is currently seeking a full-time 40-hour 4 day per week Palliative Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Associate. The successful APP candidate will have a strong background in palliative medicine with an oncology/hematology focus. This role works closely with physicians treating a broad spectrum of patients in a fast-paced outpatient environment. The position will diagnose, treat and manage patients both in our Topsham and Westbrook ME clinic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies both in an outpatient clinic setting and an inpatient hospital setting.</li><li>
Elicit medical histories of patients, perform physical examinations, and develop a differential diagnosis/problem list.</li><li>
Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic data, diagnose and treat co-morbid illness within the scope of a patient's hematologic/oncologic diagnosis, perform procedures as delegated by the attending physician, prescribe medications in accordance with federal and state regulations.
</li><li>Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes for improvement.
</li><li>Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient.</li><li>
Educate patients and families about the disease process and treatment and end of life care</li><li>
Work with patients regarding treatment side effects with goals of improving quality of life while receiving chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy.</li><li>
Facilitate advance care planning, medical decision-making and educate patients on the Death with Dignity Law.</li><li>
Provide information to patients and families related to symptom management and psychosocial response to the diagnosis of cancer and related treatment.</li></ul>
Weekend: Participation in weekend urgent care clinic in Westbrook 3-4 times per year
Travel: Travel between our Topsham and Westbrook clinics, and to local hospitals in the greater Portland area to see patients may be required 
Experience and Skills:
Experience and Skills:<ul><li>
State of Maine and New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner/Physician's Associate license required or the ability to obtain.</li><li>
Palliative Care experience required</li><li>
Experience in Oncology and Hematology preferred.</li><li>
Master's Degree Required.</li><li>
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and support staff.</li><li>
Ability to communicate with patients in a clear, concise, and compassionate manner.</li></ul>
