This role involves assessing individual needs, creating personalized education plans, and facilitating access to resources that enhance learning outcomes.Preferred QualificationsQualifications and Skills<ul><li>Education: Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work, or a related field</li><li>Experience: Previous experience in adult education, counseling, or a related field is highly desirable.</li><li>Skills:</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills</li><li>Ability to assess individual needs and develop tailored plans</li><li>Knowledge of adult learning principles and resources</li><li>Proficient in using educational technology and databases</li><li>Personal Attributes:</li><li>Empathetic and patient</li><li>Motivational and supportive</li><li>Strong organizational and problem-solving skills</li></ul>Essential Duties and Responsibilities <ul><li>Individual Assessment: Conduct intake assessments to determine the educational needs, goals, and barriers of adult learners.</li><li>Counseling Services: Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions to assist students in overcoming challenges and making informed decisions about their educational pathways.</li><li>Educational Planning: Develop customized education plans that align with students' career goals, interests, and abilities.</li><li>Resource Coordination: Connect students with relevant resources, including tutoring, financial aid, job placement services, and community programs.</li><li>Workshops and Seminars: Organize and facilitate workshops on topics such as study skills, career exploration, and goal setting.</li><li>Monitoring Progress: Track student progress and provide ongoing support and motivation to help them stay on track.</li><li>Collaboration: Work closely with educators, administrators, and community organizations to enhance program offerings and student support services.</li><li>Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of adult learners within the educational system and the community.</li><li>Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.</li></ul>Additional Duties and Responsibilities The person in this position will be responsible for any additional duties and/ or responsibilities as assigned or required by the Director of Adult EducationPhysical Activity:The position will require infrequent lifting, pulling, or pushing during the normal performance of the tasks and responsibilities. Work may require frequent walking and standing.Work Environment:Work is performed in the school environment. Counselors will take part in classroom activities as well as working with individual students.Terms of EmploymentMonday through Thursday - 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m..
