Job Description:Supports legal staff by managing discovery, research, evidence, and trial exhibits; drafting documents; coordinating witnesses; maintaining case files; and assisting at proceedings using various legal systems and tools.<ul><li>Handles discovery requests and coordinates related document production</li><li>Conducts legal research to support case preparation</li><li>Manages evidence and prepares trial exhibits as directed</li><li>Drafts legal memoranda, pleadings, and other legal documents</li><li>Prepares correspondence related to legal matters, cases, and judicial proceedings</li><li>Locates and coordinates with expert witnesses for specific case needs</li><li>Interviews witnesses and other relevant parties under the direction of legal staff to gather case information</li><li>Summarizes transcripts and other documents for legal staff review</li><li>Drafts jury instructions when assigned</li><li>Identifies and interviews fact witnesses for case-specific details</li><li>Attends court and agency proceedings to assist legal staff as directed</li><li>Serves as liaison with government agencies on behalf of the legal staff</li><li>Organizes, maintains, and manages case files, including developing and implementing retrieval systems</li><li>Acts as custodian of case files when required</li><li>Organizes and maintains research materials to ensure accessibility, retrieving information upon request</li><li>Assists in training and guiding clerical support staff in legal-related functions</li><li>Learns and uses various electronic, manual, and computerized information systems utilized by the agency, office, or related units</li></ul>Skills required:<ul><li>Ability to support legal staff in all phases of case preparation</li><li>Proficiency in handling discovery and coordinating document production</li><li>Strong legal research skills</li><li>Skill in managing evidence and preparing trial exhibits</li><li>Proficiency in drafting legal documents and correspondence</li><li>Ability to coordinate with expert and fact witnesses</li><li>Skill in summarizing transcripts and legal documents</li><li>Ability to assist at court and agency proceedings</li><li>Proficiency in organizing and maintaining case files and research materials</li><li>Ability to serve as custodian of records</li><li>Strong liaison and communication skills with government agencies</li><li>Ability to guide and mentor clerical staff in legal-related functions</li><li>Proficiency in using electronic, manual, and computerized legal systems</li></ul>Work hours:<ul><li>9:00 am to 5:00 pm</li><li>Lunch hours (unpaid): One (1) hour, anytime between 11 am and 2 pm</li></ul>Additional Information:<ul><li>Dress Code: Monday through Thursday; jeans permitted on Friday only.</li><li>Parking: Available</li></ul>#NWKNonITJob Types: Full-time, Contract, TemporaryPay: $40.40 per hourExpected hours: 40 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Legal Assistant: 3 years (Required)</li><li>Paralegal: 3 years (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
