Job DescriptionAdvise NIAD on communications and marketing strategy, with an eye to developing dynamic, accessibility-minded branding and outreach for the organization as a whole. Maintain and improve NIAD&rsquo;s regular external communications; expand audiences for NIAD artists&rsquo; practices and artwork, and for NIAD&rsquo;s mission as a progressive art studio and disability organization.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccessibility<ul><li>Develop NIAD-specific best practices in accessibility for social media, newsletters, donor communications, and events.</li><li>Carry out NIAD accessibility policy and goals in all external facing marketing &amp; communications. Keep abreast of updated standards to digital accessibility.</li></ul>Marketing/CommunicationsSocial Media: Creatively and strategically execute social media marketing according to NIAD&rsquo;s Annual Art Marketing Plan and 3-Year Strategic Plan:<ul><li>Manage and grow NIAD&rsquo;s social media presence.</li><li>Develop original content that centers NIAD artists&rsquo; voices and NIAD studio culture to drive regional and national visibility, engagement, and art sales.</li><li>Collaborate with NIAD&rsquo;s studio artists and staff to develop new content threads featuring artists&rsquo; documentation, perspective, and voice.</li><li>Create a consistent and transparent image of NIAD on existing social media platforms while tracking and testing out new platforms.</li><li>Ensure consistent improvement in accessibility for audiences.</li></ul>Content Creation:<ul><li>Develop engaging content for onsite and offsite exhibitions, programs, and artist spotlights that is aligned with NIAD&rsquo;s Art Marketing Plan and Strategic Plan, to include articles, blog posts, videos, infographics, or additional formats.</li><li>Optimize media posts for maximum impact on web and social media platforms considering SEO, format, and visual appeal.</li></ul>Web &amp; Email Marketing and Communications:<ul><li>Maintaining and developing NIAD&rsquo;s website.</li><li>Execute email marketing campaigns, crafting compelling messages for promoting artists&rsquo; careers including:</li></ul>- Art sales. - Audience development for exhibition openings, and free and ticketed events. - Fund development and organizational support.<ul><li>Implement effective marketing strategies and optimize engagement through data segmentation, targeting, testing, and creation of best practices.</li><li>Create design templates for NIAD&rsquo;s digital and print presence across all platforms, and/or work with design contractors to develop assets for NIAD&rsquo;s use.</li></ul>Marketing Strategy:<ul><li>Collaborate with Exhibitions and Partnerships Director and Executive Director to create annual marketing &amp; communications strategy and brand maintenance for NIAD Art Center and for Art Sales at NIAD, including periodic update of NIAD&rsquo;s major brand assets such as website, organizational graphic design, and regular publications.</li><li>Collaborate with NIAD&rsquo;s Development Director on campaigns, fundraisers, and donor communications to align with NIAD&rsquo;s Strategic Plan and Annual Development Plan.</li><li>With Exhibitions and Partnerships Director and Executive Director, balance strategy, creativity, and data orientation to build a full-funnel digital marketing program and content to increase engagement, art sales, organizational reputation, and audience.</li></ul>Partnerships:<ul><li>Attend collaborative meetings with external partners.</li><li>Co-develop communications strategies for NIAD partnerships.</li><li>Provide ongoing marketing and communications support to NIAD&rsquo;s partnership projects with other organizations and entities.</li></ul>Special Projects:<ul><li>Collaborate with Executive Director, Development Director, Studio Management, and Community Programs Director to support communications/PR for NIAD events.</li><li>Provide Marketing and Communications support and expertise to NIAD&rsquo;s Programs: Studio, Exhibitions, and Community; and NIAD&rsquo;s Admin activities: Development, Volunteer Management, Finance/Planning, and Facilities/Operations.</li><li>Liaise with graphic design contractors, and serve as project manager for key projects.</li></ul>Teamwork and Collaboration:<ul><li>Coordinate and collaborate with Art Marketing and Partnerships team members, including Exhibitions and Partnerships Director, Gallery Sales and Programs Manager, Artist Liaison, Registrar and Collections Manager, and volunteers and interns, including internal Studio Artist Interns.</li><li>Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and coordinating work with Accessibility and Communications volunteers and interns.</li></ul>Publicity and Public Relations:<ul><li>In a timely fashion, produce press releases for exhibitions and events. Field inquiries from the media and coordinate interviews, tours, and access to assets.</li><li>Seek out earned media for select major events and support driving attendance to NIAD exhibitions, fundraising events, and offsite programming.</li><li>Serve as ambassador in Richmond and the broader Bay Area arts community to discuss NIAD&rsquo;s programs and their successes.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications and Skills:<ul><li>3-5 years of experience in nonprofit marketing and communications; preferably with experience in marketing and communications for the arts.</li><li>1-3 years experience working with accessibility best practices in a professional setting.</li><li>Experience in publicity, especially in social media platforms, and familiarity with art world networks regionally and nationally for communications and PR.</li><li>Experience working with teams in the disability and/or arts sector is preferred.</li><li>Experience in writing with a consistent and accessible voice.</li><li>Strategic, creative, and highly collaborative.</li><li>Ability to communicate and work with other people to ensure that multiple goals and tasks are achieved.</li><li>Love and knowledge of contemporary art and the work of progressive studios.</li><li>Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once and willingness to reorganize priorities when necessary.</li><li>Willing to try new ideas and recognize when something is not working.</li><li>Knowledge of Shopify, Mailchimp, , Canva, Photoshop, Digital Photography, Kapwing, Vimeo, YouTube, Flickr, Salesforce, Square and various social media platforms.</li></ul>Working ConditionsThis is a hybrid, full-time, salaried, exempt position with benefits.Salary range $69,000-73,000 dependent on experience.Typical hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for evening and weekend events.NIAD&rsquo;s benefits include: Health and Dental insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan, Leadership Coaching, Professional Development support, and a Self-Care Leave Pool.Background check, First Aid certification, and TB test required.Physical RequirementsUse of tripods, cell phone, camera equipment; occasional lifting.Job Type: Full-timePay: $69,000.00 - $73,000.00 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Professional development assistance</li><li>Retirement plan</li></ul>Work Location: Hybrid remote in Richmond, CA 94804
