Part-Time Peer Mentor - Spring/Summer I 2026
Campus Location: Remote and Lynn (hybrid) Remote and Danvers (hybrid)
Work Schedule: Varies; 8-14 hours per week, may include evenings and weekends. (student will work with coordinator to create their own schedule)
SALARY:$17.30/hr.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The goal of peer mentorship is to promote persistence from semester to semester and a successful academic experience at North Shore Community College by helping students build academic skills, support community-building and social adjustment. As peer mentors, student staff serve as a point of contact for new and returning students at the College, helping them identify obstacles to their academic performance and support them in finding solutions for overcoming those challenges with the goal of completing their academic program of choice. Peer mentors are students who have demonstrated success at NSCC, at other colleges, or within the workforce, who can share their experience with other students. Peer mentors participate in required training sessions, team meetings, and other activities to support the program as required.
This position is designed for NSCC students and recent NSCC alumni. Other eligible candidates may include NSCC students who have been successful in other college settings and/or NSCC students who have a history of successful employment. We ask our peer staff to commit to the position for at least 2 semesters. The mission of North Shore Community College's Tutoring and Academic Support Centers is to support the learning efforts of the students, faculty teaching, and the larger goals within each program of study.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
<ul><li>Attend required training sessions and team meetings throughout the semester.</li><li>
Build connections with assigned students by maintaining active support through check-ins and offering reminders, and using multiple communication platforms (e.g., phone, email, chats, google messaging, and Zoom video meetings).</li><li>
Assist students with non-subject specific academic preparation such as time management, study skills, and academic technologies based on professional development and personal experience.</li><li>
Assist students in developing better habits by engaging in self-assessment practices to help mentees better understand their strengths and barriers with the goal of developing action plans or academic goals.</li><li>
Foster a supportive and non-judgmental environment where mentees feel comfortable sharing their challenges, concerns, and aspirations.</li><li>
Assist students in identifying barriers, explore solutions, and leverage resources by encouraging students to take an active role in their learning.</li><li>
Help students connect with other services that can assist them in their academic and professional goals such as Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Accessibility and Wellness Services, etc.</li><li>
Maintain a working knowledge of services provided by other areas of the college to ease the students' college success journey and help students demystify college policies and procedures.</li><li>
Track and maintain accurate records of conversations and interventions with students using Navigate and other authorized systems; follow professional guidelines of interaction and FERPA or HIPAA regulations as necessary to help foster safe and trusting mentor-mentee relationship.</li><li>
Offer referrals to Tutoring or other services as needed.</li><li>
Support program outreach efforts (eg. tabling, peer engagement, class visits).</li><li>
Represent program at designated NSCC events (on- and off-campus).</li><li>
Meet with supervisory staff regularly with the goal of collaborating and brainstorming ideas to enhance the program's effectiveness.</li><li>
Perform other duties as necessary and as requested by the supervisor.</li></ul> 

Job Requirements: 
<ul><li>
Be in good academic standing at North Shore Community College and/or have a demonstrable record of successful academic performance and/or professional performance.</li><li>
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in either of NSCC's campuses.</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.</li><li>
Cooperates and works well with both peers and supervisors.</li><li>
 Ability to work remotely if needed with access to reliable internet for regular video conference activities.</li><li>
Demonstrates qualities of patience and empathy; respect for students of all genders, gender identities, cultural/ethnic backgrounds, ages, and abilities.</li><li>
Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations</li><li>
Problem-solver with the ability to locate and disseminate the appropriate resources according to student need.</li><li>
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.</li></ul>
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>Recommendation from an NSCC staff or faculty member (in the form of a letter or contact information); have completed at least 6 credit hours at NSCC.</li></ul>

Non-Unit Professional position, 37.5 hours/week

SALARY: Salary range $135,000.00 - $142,000.00. The offered salary will be commensurate with experience and education but will not exceed the stated range. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Dean provides academic, operational, personnel, and strategic leadership for the Division of STEM and Business, including Animal Care, Aviation Sciences, Biotechnology, Computer and Information Sciences, Business, Engineering and Industrial Technologies, Horticulture, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Veterinary Technology.
In partnership with faculty through shared governance, the Dean establishes divisional goals and academic direction grounded in student success data, labor market and transfer trends, graduate outcomes, advisory input, and research-based best practices. The Dean administers divisional operations in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, overseeing faculty workload, evaluation, hiring, reappointment, promotion, and tenure.
The Dean advances the College's Hispanic-Serving Institution mission by expanding access, improving persistence and completion, and closing equity gaps across programs. Using disaggregated data and sound judgment, the Dean leads evidence-based change initiatives?including program redesign, modality innovation, partnership development, and resource alignment?to strengthen student progression to transfer and living-wage employment and to support regional economic vitality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Academic Direction, Goals, and Programmatic Oversight (with Faculty Partnership)
<ul><li>Establishes divisional goals and academic direction based on:
<ul><li>Student success and progression data</li><li>
Labor market trends, job availability data, and career placement information</li><li>
Transfer trends and partner expectations</li><li>
Advisory committee, employer, and community input</li><li>
Peer-reviewed research and national best practices in community college education</li></ul>
</li><li>Regularly reviews and interprets career/market data, job availability trends, survey results, and graduate placement outcomes to determine program viability, growth, revision, or sunset.</li><li>
Leads course and program development with faculty through governance processes using this evidence base.</li><li>
Advances curriculum proposals through divisional and college governance structures.</li><li>
Engages with professional literature, conferences, peer institutions, employers, and transfer partners to inform divisional strategy.</li></ul>
2. Accreditation, Assessment, and Program Review
<ul><li>Oversees specialized program accreditations and ensures compliance with accreditor standards.</li><li>
Leads program review and student learning outcomes assessment for divisional departments to drive continuous improvement.</li><li>
Incorporates assessment findings, completion data, graduate outcomes, employer feedback, and survey data into curriculum and program revisions with faculty.</li><li>
Ensures assessment and review practices reflect current research and accreditor guidance.</li></ul>
3. Scheduling, Enrollment Management, and Instructional Operations
<ul><li>Develops the master schedule across modalities using:
<ul><li>Enrollment trends</li><li>
Course success rates</li><li>
Time-to-completion patterns</li></ul>

Adjusts offerings to improve student access, momentum, and completion.</li><li>

4. Faculty, Staff, and Labor Relations Administration
<ul><li>Administers collective bargaining agreements and personnel processes.</li><li>
Oversees evaluation, hiring, reappointment, tenure, promotion, discipline, and contract interpretation.</li><li>

5. Student Experience, Progression, and Pathways
<ul><li>Oversees grade appeals, complaints, and academic grievances.</li><li>
Works with Early College, dual enrollment, and articulation partners to strengthen pathways.</li><li>
Collaborates across divisions to align programs with clear transfer and career pathways.</li><li>
Applies research on belonging, persistence, progression, and post-completion outcomes to divisional practices.</li></ul>
6. Budget, Resources, and Strategic Implementation
<ul><li>Allocates resources and develops budget requests justified by student outcomes data, labor market evidence, and program performance.</li><li>
Monitors grants and divisional spending for alignment with strategic priorities.</li><li>
Reports on divisional performance using defined metrics.</li></ul>
7. External Partnerships and Community Engagement
<ul><li>Actively cultivates academic and divisional relationships with community and national agencies, professional organizations, schools, businesses, colleges, and individuals.</li><li>
Maintains active relationships with NSCC advisory committees, employers, high schools, community agencies, and transfer institutions.</li><li>
Engages faculty in advisory and partnership activities connected to program quality.</li><li>
Uses these external relationships and advisory structures as ongoing sources of market intelligence to inform curriculum relevance, program viability, and divisional strategic direction.</li></ul>
8. Shared Governance, Culture, and Change Leadership
<ul><li>Participates actively in shared governance with faculty as curriculum leaders.</li><li>
Leads change through transparent presentation of evidence, data trends, and research.</li><li>
Promotes equity-minded, student-centered practices supported by scholarship and outcomes data.</li><li>
Fosters a culture of collegiality, trust, transparency, and adaptability.</li></ul>
9. Other Duties as Assigned
<ul><li>Performs other related duties as assigned by the Provost.</li></ul>

Job Requirements: 
<ul><li>
Minimum of an earned Master's Degree in a related field within STEM &amp; Business; doctorate preferred.</li><li>
Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community college</li><li>
Academic administration experience at the department chair level or above in a higher education setting with experience in academic planning, program development, supervision, collaborative, team-based leadership, and bridge-building across disciplines.</li><li>
Successful teaching experience in higher education, preferably in a community college.</li><li>
Demonstrated success leading a complex academic change initiative from design through implementation, including managing resistance and sustaining improvements.</li><li>
Evidence of improving in curriculum development and assessment practices through structured faculty development and program review.</li><li>
Experience expanding and assuring quality of online or hybrid programs, including faculty training, course design standards, and student support structures</li><li>
Documented pattern of transparent communication and feedback, such as regular division-wide updates, open forums, and structured one-on-ones with direct reports.</li><li>
Documented experience leading initiatives that improved retention and completion for historically underserved community college students, with measurable results</li><li>
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.</li></ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICIATIONS:
<ul><li>Experience with management in collective bargaining environment.</li><li>
