As a vibrant part of the community, we attract guests looking for authenticity, culture, and unparalleled hospitality.Position Overview of Chief Engineer:The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and safety of the hotel&rsquo;s physical plant, equipment, and building systems. This leadership role will oversee preventive maintenance programs, capital projects, vendor management, and energy efficiency initiatives while supporting a guest-focused environment that reflects the quality and character of The Lawrence Hotel.Key Responsibilities of Chief Engineer:<ul><li>Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of all hotel systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and building controls.</li><li>Ensure the property is maintained in excellent condition, supporting both guest comfort and operational efficiency.</li><li>Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations, minimizing disruption to guests and operations.</li><li>Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment performance.</li></ul>Preventive Maintenance &amp; Asset Protection:<ul><li>Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for guestrooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.</li><li>Conduct routine inspections to identify and address maintenance needs proactively.</li><li>Support capital planning, equipment replacement, and long-term asset management.</li><li>Ensure compliance with all brand standards, local codes, and regulatory requirements.</li></ul>Safety, Compliance &amp; Risk Management:<ul><li>Maintain and monitor all life safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, emergency lighting, and backup power.</li><li>Ensure compliance with OSHA, local building codes, environmental regulations, and Hilton safety standards.</li><li>Lead safety training and maintain a safe working environment for all team members.</li><li>Coordinate inspections with local authorities and third-party vendors.</li></ul>Team Leadership &amp; Vendor Management:<ul><li>Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise engineering and maintenance team members.</li><li>Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.</li><li>Manage relationships with contractors, service providers, and utility vendors.</li><li>Control departmental expenses and manage the engineering budget effectively.</li></ul>Pre-Opening Responsibilities:<ul><li>Participate in building walk-throughs, punch list completion, and system commissioning.</li><li>Coordinate equipment setup, warranty documentation, and service contracts.</li><li>Establish maintenance programs, inventory levels, and operating procedures prior to opening.</li><li>Support opening readiness to ensure a smooth and successful launch.</li></ul>Qualifications for Chief Engineer:<ul><li>5+ years of engineering or maintenance leadership experience in a hotel is highly preferred.</li><li>Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.</li><li>Experience with preventive maintenance programs, capital planning, and vendor management.</li><li>Working knowledge of life safety systems and regulatory compliance.</li><li>Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability to respond to emergencies and work a flexible schedule as needed.</li><li>Hilton or full-service hotel experience preferred.</li></ul>Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee assistance program</li><li>Flexible schedule</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Professional development assistance</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Hotel: 1 year (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
