Receive phone calls and greet all patients and visitors pleasantly and effectively.
</li><li>Handle telephone communications, including:<ul><li>
Telephone etiquette</li><li>
Making patient appointments</li><li>
Making reminder phone calls day prior to a scheduled visit</li><li>
Answer inquiries related to services</li><li>
Routing calls as necessary to the appropriate site</li><li>
Excellent customer service</li></ul></li><li>
Make reminder phone calls day prior to a scheduled visit and follow-up calls for &ldquo;no shows&rdquo;.</li><li>
Check insurance eligibility and activation prior to the appointment.</li><li>
Collect co-pays and payments at the time of service and issue receipts as necessary.</li><li>
Accurately balances and maintain payment log, reconcile daily cash and copy all received checks daily.</li><li>
Assist patients with billing questions, assist with sliding fee questions, and establish payment arrangements with patients if deemed necessary.</li><li>
Ensure all patient information is current and up to date at each visit. This is to include all insurance, Medicare or Medicaid cards being scanned, patient information sheet has been updated annually and scanned, and all information in the chart matches the information in the computer per policy and procedure.</li><li>
Follow and complete check out procedures as directed and preforms daily batch management as assigned.</li><li>
Inform and assist patients with the Sliding Fee Scale Program. Calculate and approve Sliding Fee Scale (SFS) applications. Accurately enter Sliding Fee information in computer.</li><li>
Must comply with the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.</li><li>
Must live within a 60 mile radius of Family Medicine Associates or Southside Health Clinic.
</li><li>This position is remote, but employees must be available for 10% work on site.
</li><li>Perform related work as required.</li></ul>
Education &amp; Experience<ul><li>
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver&rsquo;s License, and proof of insurance for personal vehicle used for business.
</li><li>Possess high school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
Must demonstrate basic computer skills.</li><li>
Possess typing skills, computer knowledge required. Must demonstrate accuracy, proficiency, and efficiency.
</li></ul>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
<ul><li>Must be professionally motivated, able to work independently, be a strong facilitator and have excellent follow through skills.
</li><li>Possess cognitive skills necessary to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral or written form.</li><li>
Must demonstrate tact patience and good communication skills in dealing with patients, co-workers and the public.</li><li>
Must respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.</li><li>
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.</li><li>
Must be able to perform job requirements in high demand situations.
</li><li>Must be able to talk, see, hear, write, stand, walk, and kneel.
</li><li>Possess cognitive skills necessary to understand medical terminology, instructions, medical records.</li><li>
Follow established procedures for answering and screening incoming appointment-related telephone calls, scheduling interpreters, and directing calls to appropriate staff.</li></ul></div>
