Our culture is built on accountability, ownership, inclusion, integrity, safety, and excellence.How You Will Make an Impact&middot; Perform a variety of engineering analyses and calculations, with and without the use of engineering software along with preparing calculation packages.&middot; Prepare and/or review geotechnical report and present findings and recommendations.&middot; Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans/drawings, technical specifications, and reports.&middot; Lead geotechnical field observations and studies, including on-site direction and inspection of geotechnical drilling activities, and required permit(s) coordination.&middot; Oversee various construction operations, including earthwork, monitoring wells, dewatering, and excavation support installations, and prepare engineering field reports.&middot; Conduct field testing and select samples for laboratory soil and rock testing, along with interpretation of data from a variety of tests.&middot; Conduct seawall and shoreline inspections and prepare risk register and assessment reports.&middot; Prepare geotechnical instrumentation plan, evaluate instrumentation data, and provide recommendations.&middot; Interpret soil samples and construct geologic profiles.&middot; Interact and communicate with subcontractors, clients, and internal staff.&middot; Develop and present project-specific or technical presentations to clients, technical organizations, and in-house staff.What You Bring to the Team &middot; Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis on geotechnical engineering) or related degree from a 4-year accredited college or university.o Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.&middot; Professional licensure in the State of Michigan or another state, or the ability to obtain within 1-year required.&middot; 3+ years of demonstrated experience in the Geotechnical Engineering field, analysis, and design.&middot; Excellent skills in geotechnical applications and soil-structure interaction.&middot; Experience with software for geotechnical analysis and design of slope stability, earth retention / shoring, settlement, vertical and lateral loading of shallow and deep foundations, and related items is necessary.&middot; Experience with soft soil conditions and finite element modeling is highly desirable.&middot; Experience in analysis and design of earth support systems is highly desirable.&middot; Experience in seawall analysis and design is highly desirable.&middot; Experience in earthen dam seepage evaluation is highly desirable.&middot; Experience in various tunneling techniques is a plus.&middot; Ability to independently characterize subsoil conditions, starting from the development of an exploration program through laboratory testing, evaluation of data, and design parameter recommendations.&middot; Ability to organize technical material into comprehensive reports and calculations, as well as perform reviews on geotechnical reports and calculations, is required.&middot; Ability to perform project planning, invoicing and collections, budgeting, task delegation, and management to ensure project is completed according to work plans.&middot; Demonstrated ability to seek and establish new clients and build good business relationships with both new and current clients.&middot; Must be able to conduct periodic site / client visits and project and business development meetings.&middot; May be required to assist in developing business strategies and action plans for creating growth opportunities.&middot; May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.&middot; Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.&middot; May be required to enter and work within confined spaces, once appropriately trained.&middot; Must hold a valid driver&rsquo;s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan.Why You will Love Working at NTH&middot; Rewards For Performance- We recognize great work with competitive pay with a generous compensation program to reward performance.&middot; Career Roadmaps &amp; Professional Growth- At NTH, managers meet with staff quarterly to support goal setting and growth through our Career Planning program.
