POSITION SUMMARY:</b> The Refueling and Remote Handling Group is responsible for fuel and reactor module handling, including its remote disassembly, inspection, and assembly during reactor refueling. The group provides for the design of remotely operated or controlled automated, robotic, and tele-operated reactor servicing tools and inspection equipment for use by NuScale in a variety of operating environments. The mission of the group is to provide efficient, safe, and reliable tools, equipment and processes that ensure refueling outage performance objectives are achieved.
</p><p><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
</b></p><ul><li>Leads the development of resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and innovation.</li><li>
Provides and utilizes system engineering input in the development of reactor servicing tools, inspection equipment, and control systems.</li><li>
Prepares, checks, and reviews engineering reports, system descriptions and specifications, drawings, calculations, and other design documents with particular emphasis on reactor servicing tooling and inspection systems, machine and component design. Works on complex tasks in multiple and diverse areas.</li><li>
Work collaboratively with the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Component design organization to ensure adequate features are provided to interface with NuScale&rsquo;s reactor servicing tools to ensure that functional and performance requirements are met.</li><li>
Works closely with Systems Engineering and the Operations group to develop work sequences and handling plans as part of an integrated tool design scheme.</li><li>
Leads the development and maintenance of engineering standards and criteria.</li><li>
Assists in the planning and organization of complex engineering work. Performs innovative and complex engineering assignments on a team dedicated to the development of an engineered product; interprets scope and requirements of projects; develops alternative methods to achieve project goals.</li><li>
Supports and manages procurement of activities related to equipment design, fabrication and testing activities.</li><li>
Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) both internal and external to the RRH group and greater Plant Engineering organization in terms of utilizing proven technical approaches and engineering standards to solve problems in technical areas of expertise.</li><li>
Mentors and trains other engineers in sound approaches and standards for solving problems in technical areas of expertise.</li><li>
Self-manages workload and deadlines.</li><li>

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:</b></p><ul><li><b>
Education:</b> A B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering from a four-year college or university is required. An advanced engineering degree is preferred. A PE license in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering is desirable.</li><li><b>
Experience:</b> A minimum of 8 years of full-time, directly relevant professional experience is required. Must have demonstrated experience in implementing engineering design processes to design mechanical handling equipment and systems. Must be proficient in planning, preparing, and checking mechanical design documents for mechanical equipment and systems. Prior experience operating in a nuclear operating environment is a plus.</li><li><b>
Industry Requirements:</b> Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>

POSITION SUMMARY:</b> Responsible for technical supplier oversight regarding manufacturing and manufacturing development projects, specifically related to NuScale Power Module. The manufacturing engineer will provide consultation to NuScale design organizations regarding manufacturing, specify and collect product manufacturing requirements including all standards and specifications, and generally act as a primary point of contact between NuScale design organizations and manufacturing suppliers for technical information and communications. The manufacturing engineer will apply industry expertise, codes and standards, and regulatory guidance in the general area of NuScale Power Module manufacturing and supply chain development.</div><div></div><div><b>
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
</b></div><ul><li>Interact daily with NuScale design organizations to interpret their needs and requirements to manufacturers.</li><li>
Contribute to the NuScale design organizations by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.</li><li>
Perform subcontract technical lead duties by preparing requirements documents and schedules, coordinating and monitoring the technical aspects of assigned manufacturing and manufacturing development projects.</li><li>
Review manufacturing documentation of supplier to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, standards, and QA/QC requirements.</li><li>
Develop, check, or review internal drawings, studies, and specifications</li><li>
Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions</li><li>
Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with procedures, applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.</li><li>
Manage supplier manufacturing mockup planning and test results to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.</li><li>
Perform surveys of new manufacturing suppliers to assess capabilities and documenting survey results.</li><li>
Perform/coordinate grading of technical proposals and working with Procurement team for supplier selection.</li><li>
Assist Product Cost Management team with cost estimates and value engineering studies.</li><li>
Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing manufacturing information and trends including statistical analysis of manufacturing trends.</li><li>
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.</li><li>
Performs special studies and manufacturing engineering analysis to support supplier development.</li><li>

Education:</b> A minimum of a B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Welding, or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Working toward Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.</li><li><b>
Experience:</b> Minimum of five years of full-time engineering work experience in design, manufacturing, or construction of ASME vessels, equipment, or systems is required. Other required experience includes:<ul><li>
Manufacturing development for complex designs, components, or systems in a regulated environment.</li><li>
Demonstrated project management skills along with strong technical writing skills and use of software including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), navigation of CAD/CAM systems, and normal MS Office software.</li><li>
Experience in the nuclear industry preferred.
</li></ul></li><li><b>Industry Requirements:</b> Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
</li><li><b>Travel Requirements: </b>Able to travel to local, national, and international suppliers using common forms of transportation. Anticipate 10%-20% travel, initially. Position will require presence in supplier manufacturing shop environments and will require familiarity with shop safety requirements and working conditions.
