About the RoleOur Brooklyn accounting practice is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to handle the day-to-day accounting work for a portfolio of established clients. This is a steady, hands-on role: you'll keep the books accurate, payroll and sales tax filed on time, and returns prepared and ready for review.You'll work alongside a small, collegial team and report to the firm's senior accounting staff. It's a good fit for someone who takes pride in doing careful, reliable work and being a dependable point of contact for the clients you support.What You'll Do<ul><li>Maintain full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients - general ledger, AP/AR, bank and credit-card reconciliations, and month-end close.</li><li>Process payroll and related filings, and keep clients compliant and on schedule.</li><li>Prepare and file sales tax returns, including New York State and multi-jurisdiction filings.</li><li>Prepare individual and business tax returns for review and sign-off by our CPAs/EAs.</li><li>Handle 1099s, estimated payments, and routine year-end and compliance work.</li><li>Support day-to-day operations - client document collection, deadline tracking, and workflow.</li><li>Serve as a reliable, professional point of contact for client questions.</li></ul>What You Bring<ul><li>Several years of hands-on bookkeeping and small-business accounting experience; experience in a public accounting or multi-client firm a plus.</li><li>Solid experience with payroll and sales tax; New York filings a plus.</li><li>Experience preparing tax returns at the staff level (CPA/EA not required &mdash; your prep work is reviewed and signed off by our senior team).</li><li>Strong command of accounting software.</li><li>Organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.</li><li>Clear, professional client communication.</li></ul>Russian language fluency is an advantage.Compensation &amp; Benefits<ul><li>$63,000&ndash;$85,000 base, depending on experience.</li><li>Flexible schedule.</li><li>Paid time off.</li><li>Paid training.</li></ul>This position includes a 90-day introductory (probationary) period.About NumicaNumica is a modern accounting firm serving thousands of individual and business clients, with offices in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Texas.
