POSITION SUMMARYThe Preschool Teacher (ages 6 weeks&ndash;6 years old) is responsible for creating and maintaining a calm, prepared environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of children. The teacher guides children using Montessori principles - our school's chosen teaching methodology - while ensuring safety, supervision, and compliance with Texas DFPS Child Care Licensing standards.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>Create and maintain a prepared Montessori classroom for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years</li><li>Guide children&rsquo;s learning via observation, individual lessons, small-group activities</li><li>Support independence, concentration, and respectful behavior using positive guidance</li><li>Provide constant supervision and maintain DFPS-required child-to-teacher ratios</li><li>Ensure classroom materials and equipment are safe, clean, and well-maintained</li><li>Support daily routines including arrival, dismissal, meals, outdoor play, and rest time</li><li>Assist with toileting and hygiene routines as needed</li><li>Communicate professionally and respectfully with families</li><li>Maintain confidentiality of child and family information</li><li>Report incidents, injuries, or concerns promptly to the Director</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONSRequired<ul><li>Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years</li><li>Ability to meet DFPS employment and training requirements</li><li>Strong communication and teamwork skills</li><li>Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children</li></ul>Preferred:<ul><li>Montessori training or certification (AMI, AMS, or equivalent) is a PLUS!</li><li>Early Childhood Education coursework or degree</li><li>Prior experience in a Montessori or child-centered classroom</li></ul>WORK ENVIRONMENT<ul><li>Active classroom setting with frequent standing, bending, and lifting</li><li>Indoor and outdoor supervision in varying weather conditions</li><li>Reports to the Director of the school</li></ul>EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYNuthatch Montessori School is an equal opportunity employer.Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>Employee discount</li><li>Professional development assistance</li><li>Tuition reimbursement</li></ul>Work Location: In person
