</p><p>The Operations Manager is a key leader responsible for directing, optimizing, and executing daily distribution and/or transportation activities within assigned market areas. This includes operational oversight of one or more functions such as receiving, order fulfillment, shipping/loadout, and/or transportation.</p><br>

The role owns P&amp;L performance for the assigned area, with accountability for staffing, cost control, safety, service, and the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs). Primary Responsibilities:</b></p><br>

<ul><li>Plan and manage efficient receipt, storage, order fulfillment, loading, and/or transportation activities&mdash; including third-party providers&mdash;while maintaining a strong focus on KPIs, quality, service, and cost.</li>
<li>Utilize forecasting tools and methodologies to align labor, capacity, and resources with current and anticipated volume.</li>
<li>Monitor, analyze, and act on operational performance data (productivity, quality, utilization) to drive continuous improvement.</li>
</ul></li><li>Customer &amp; Stakeholder Engagement:</li>
<li>
<ul><li>Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external customers, and third-party providers/carriers.</li>
<li>Participate in leadership meetings, customer visits, and third-party audits; proactively identify business opportunities and process improvements that enhance service and support growth.</li>
</ul></li><li>People Leadership &amp; Development:</li>
<li>
<ul><li>Recruit, hire, train, and develop distribution and/or transportation team members; ensure appropriate staffing and coverage to meet business needs.</li>
<li>Provide day-to-day leadership and motivation for a team of approximately 20-50 coworkers, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and collaboration.</li>
<li>Conduct performance reviews, ongoing coaching conversations, and salary recommendations.</li>
<li>Promote open, transparent communication and ensure associates understand goals, expectations, and priorities.</li>
</ul></li><li>Safety, Compliance &amp; Workplace Standards:</li>
<li>
<ul><li>Administer training, qualification, and safety programs to ensure regulatory and company policy compliance.</li>
<li>Communicate and enforce policies, procedures, and standard work within assigned areas.</li>
<li>Ensure the physical condition of the facility and work areas supports a clean, safe, and healthy working environment.</li>
</ul></li><li>Financial Management &amp; Continuous Improvement:</li>

<ul><li>Own and manage multi-departmental P&amp;Ls with accountability for budget performance, cost control, and operational efficiency.</li>
<li>Identify and implement initiatives that reduce cost-to-serve while maintaining or improving service levels.</li>
<li>Implement Lean principles and methodologies to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and improve safety, quality, and productivity.</li>
<li>Lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving and process-improvement initiatives; standardize best practices across the operation.</li>

Operations Manager

<div><div><p><b>Overview</b>
</p><p>The Furniture Project Specialist is responsible for all projects that require some level of coordination or other factors deemed necessary to require dedicated project management. This position will handle a variety of sized projects and can span all activities of supporting a project (i.e. product selection, product specification, applying appropriate discounting, preparing proposals, order entry, order management, installation management and punch list resolution).</p>
<p>
This position will work very closely with the Furniture Seller and Project Coordinator or may need to work independently to ensure the customer&rsquo;s needs are meet. This position has wide latitude for independent judgment and is highly-skilled with extensive proficiency.</p><br>
<p></p>
<p><b>
Primary Responsibilities:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Act as point-of-contact throughout project process. Align appropriate internal and/or subcontracted resources to accomplish the work. Schedule and coordinate all installation activities with sub-contractors and building resources. Review furniture installation plans with each contractor. Interface with appropriate parties to monitor product orders and schedule teardown of existing furniture, if required, to ensure timely delivery and installation. Provide customer service. Clearly convey accurate, thorough or relevant information related to status updates, problems and customer issues to sales team in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Maintain complete and accurate record of the entire project (project folder) including approved plans, budgets and schedules, correspondences, product orders and acknowledgements, delivery tickets, labor timesheets, and subcontractor invoices. Execute and adhere to project timelines including order entry, production schedules, delivery and installation, and problem resolution. Communicate project status throughout the sales process. Identify project issues and provide cost effective solutions to insure project completion while minimizing gross profit erosion. Manage and monitor the furniture ordering process from ordering acknowledgements; creating all installation packets and forwarding to installation contractors; updating installation schedule dates; identifying back charges; managing punch lists; initiating the claims process for warranty issues; and tracking proof of deliveries.</li>
<li>Participate in project planning and design meetings including internal detailed furniture design meetings and provide input as appropriate. Review final furniture plans along with designer for accuracy and completeness as related to request for proposal (RFP) information and/or site conditions. Assist with developing a furniture package in response to RFP. Participate in client presentation meetings and explain the project manager role throughout the projects duration. Develop a relationship with the client through consistent communication throughout the project gaining the client&rsquo;s confidence in the team&rsquo;s ability to fulfill client expectations. Research, craft and assemble all proposals and bids targeted to the customers&rsquo; needs and requirements by collaborating with the sales team and OfficeMax subject matter experts. Proposals and bids may include pricing, discounts, installation cost.</li>
<li>Monitor job-site throughout delivery and installation phases by communicating closely with onsite contacts. Attend construction meetings and provide information to general contractor to insure site readiness. Work with manufacturer&rsquo;s reps, warehouse staff, and internal team to resolve any problems in a timely manner. Schedule use of service elevators, loading docks, and parking facilities, and coordinate building access with appropriate building managers. Maintain a working knowledge of all OM Workspace preferred vendor products with the ability to offer immediate solutions to resolve unexpected site issues.</li></ul><br>

Education and Experience:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Level of Formal Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience</li>
<li>Area of Study: Project Management or Design</li>
<li>Minimum Years of Experience: 3</li>
<li>Type of Experience:
<ul><li>This position requires knowledge of construction or project management acquired through formal education, or 3 &ndash; 5 years on-the-job application.</li>
<li>Equivalent to a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in business administration or interior design.</li>
</ul></li><li>Special Certifications: Project management, safety training, and/or LEED certification a plus</li>
<li>Technical Competencies &amp; Information Systems:
<ul><li>Ability to navigate through AutoCAD drawings with various viewer software packages (e.g. TrueView).</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret floor plans, blueprints and installation drawings.</li>
<li>Analytical and problem solving skills.</li>
<li>Organizational &amp; Project Mgt skills.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of all preferred vendor products (e.g., Teknion).</li>
</ul></li><li>Skills &amp; Abilities:
<ul><li>Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization</li>
<li>Ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships.</li>
