The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens.

We are seeking dedicated and empathetic individuals to join our team as<b> Probation and Parole Officer-Juvenile</b>. This role plays a critical part in promoting public safety, reducing recidivism, and supporting the successful rehabilitation of justice-involved youth through professional supervision, guidance, and intervention strategies. This position is responsible for collaborating closely with judges, law enforcement agencies, and community-based organizations to provide services and supervision for juveniles.<br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Minimum Qualifications
</b></h2></div><div><p>Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR<br>
<br>
Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); OR<br>
<br>
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR<br>
<br>
A bachelor's degree.<br>
<br>
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:<br>
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.<br>
<br>
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:<br>
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.<br>
<br>
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.<br>
<br>
This position may require the incumbent to handle and carry firearms.<br>
<br>
Willingness and ability to complete the Corrections Juvenile Services-Agent Curriculum.</p></div>

</b></h2></div><div><p>Job Duties:</p><br>
<ul><li>
Coordinate supervision, services, and community resources for adjudicated and at-risk youth across a multi-parish region.</li><li>
Conduct risk and needs assessments (including SAVRY) to guide supervision levels and intervention strategies.</li><li>
Maintain ongoing contact with youth, families, and providers to monitor progress and update Individual Service Plans (ISPs).</li><li>
Serve as secondary case manager for youth in secure care, ensuring continuity of services and successful transitions.</li><li>
Prepare and submit required documentation, including ISPs, social histories, supplemental studies, and Pre-Dispositional Investigations.</li><li>
Facilitate placements by scheduling evaluations, compiling referral packets, and coordinating with residential and community-based programs.</li><li>
Participate in case reviews, court proceedings, and interagency coordination; provide testimony and support compliance monitoring.</li><li>
Maintain accurate case records and data systems, respond to emergencies, and provide mentorship/lead support to junior staff (PPO 1/2 level).</li></ul><br>

Career Progression:</b> This position may be filled as a Probation and Parole Officer 1,2, or 3 (Juvenile), depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.</p><b>
Compensation: </b>These positions have a <b>Special Entrance Rate (SER) </b>at each level.<br>

The <b>Probation and Parole Officer 1</b> <b>Juvenile</b> has a SER of $1,590.40 Biweekly.</li><li>
The<b> Probation and Parole Officer 2 Juvenile</b> has a SER of $1,701.60 Biweekly.</li><li>
The <b>Probation and Parole Officer 3 Juvenile</b> has a SER of $2,084.80 Biweekly.</li></ul><br>
<b>
The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in </b><b>R.S. 15:587.1 (c)</b><br>
