The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services&rsquo; (OSPS or Office) is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office&rsquo;s mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. OSPS prepares pretrial investigation reports for the courts and supervises individuals released from custody as directed by the court.The Deputy Region Chief assists the Region Chief in overseeing the delivery of pretrial services within the Office of Statewide Pretrial Services (OSPS) jurisdictions. The Deputy Region Chief assists the Region Chief by analyzing data, participating the hiring process and completing performance evaluations. The Deputy Region Chief works under the general supervision of a Region Chief within the Division of Pretrial Operations.Northern Region: can be located in the following counties - JoDaviess, Stephenson, Carroll, Ogle, McHenry or WillCurrent Available Shift(s):Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM*Shift will be determined to fit operations needs of the court which may include working weekends.BENEFITS:An attractive judicial branch benefits package is offered, including pension, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as deferred compensation and generous leave time.Click Here for State Employee General BenefitsClick Here for OSPS Summary of BenefitsFUNCTIONS INCLUDE:&middot; Serves as a supervisor by providing instructions, setting expectations, observing performance, providing feedback through ongoing and annual performance evaluations and recommending corrective or disciplinary action when necessary.&middot; Implements OSPS policies and procedures within the Region and reports overall progress to the Region Chief&middot; Reviews pretrial service delivery within the Region for compliance with OSPS policies and procedures.&middot; Evaluates the workloads and resource needs of the Region.&middot; Regularly audits and reviews the work of Pretrial Services Officers with an emphasis on improving outcomes to assure compliance with the Pretrial Services Act and court mandates.&middot; Orients and oversees the training of new Pretrial Services Officers in pretrial assessments, pretrial reports, and appropriate pretrial supervision.&middot; Works with Pretrial Services Officers to develop individual training plans for areas in which they need improvement and monitors progress of training plan implementation.&middot; Participates in the hiring process for pretrial services officers and field supervisors.&middot; Develops and maintains relationships with criminal justice partners within the Region.&middot; Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of pretrial services and related criminal justice and community corrections issues.&middot; Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Minimum Qualifications:1. A Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree from an accredited institution.2. Ability to be LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) certified.3. Five or more years professional working experience in a public or private organization.4. Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system including related statutes, regulations, procedures and operations at the trial court level.5. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).6. A valid Illinois driver&rsquo;s license, a safe driving record and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business.Preferred Qualifications:1. Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in social science, public administration, criminal justice or a related field.2. Master&rsquo;s Degree in court, public, criminal justice or business administration or a related field.3. Four years of progressively responsible experience in pretrial services.4. Three years of supervisory experience.5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.6. Ability to positively and professionally interact with co-workers.7. Thorough knowledge of the criminal justice system including related Illinois statutes, regulations, procedures and operations at the trial court level, and a comprehensive perspective of legal and evidence-based pretrial services including pragmatic applicability and implementation.OTHER KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:&middot; Effective oral and written communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.&middot; Ability to plan, organize, implement, and maintain a variety of functions and projects simultaneously and meet required deadlines and schedules.&middot; Ability to positively and professionally interact with co-workers.&middot; Demonstrated leadership skills including planning and priority setting, sound decision-making, problem-solving, and analytic and interpretive skills.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to sit for extended time periods.2. Normal office working environment requiring telephone usage and ability to process written documents.3.
