DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>FULL TIME</li><li>Transports offenders via passenger vehicles and buses to various destinations such as courts, jails, prisons, medical centers, and other specified locations.</li><li>Escorts offenders into surroundings requiring contact with judges, prosecuting attorneys, and other court personnel; hospital personnel such as physicians, nurses, and other medical staff; and the public.</li><li>Contacts federal, state, and local police agencies and sheriffs&rsquo; offices within, and outside, of the state and maintains professional courtesy.</li><li>Plans and executes all aspects of the trip/run including: inspection/exchanging information, search of the vehicle and security items, determination of amount and types of restraints, selection of necessary weapons, planning special security precautions, emergency and escape procedures, timing and routing of the trip, accommodation of the needs of the offenders, possession of all clearances and necessary travel documents, inspection and storage of offender&rsquo;s personal property, and the assurance of a safe and controlled travel environment.</li><li>Peace Officer assumes responsibility for significant departmental material resources such as passenger vehicles, weaponry, and communications equipment.</li><li>Observes offenders&rsquo; activities to detect unusual or prohibited behavior that might be a threat to the security and safety of fellow employees, other offenders, and the public.</li><li>Observes and immediately responds to all incidents such as assaults on employees or offenders, offender disturbances, or other situations threatening the security of the mission.</li><li>Controls restrains and subdue disruptive offender(s) to prevent disturbances and possible escapes.</li><li>Make prompt decisions quickly in both routine and non-routine situations including those situations that would be considered &ldquo;life and death&rdquo;.</li><li>Follows organizational security policies and procedures. Maintains vigilant adherence to all departmental procedures.</li><li>Places restraining devices on the offender(s) for security purposes and according to departmental policy and procedure, while transporting and assuring secure environment when devices are removed.</li><li>Write clear and concisely, use acceptable grammar and spelling; write reports that are complete and accurate.</li><li>Other assignments as required.</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 21 years of age.Must possess and maintain a full-time CLEET certification.Must be able to pass a written and physical ability test.Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license (possession of CDL class B with a passenger endorsement is strongly preferred but not required, will be required to get in the near future).Must pass a background check.Must pass oral board interview.Must be a U.S. Citizen or be lawfully authorized to work in the U.S.Must not have any felony convictions, domestic violence convictions, or driving under the influence record.Must be available for shift work, including weekends and holidays.MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO:Travel in and out of the state for extended periods of time on short notice.Work irregular hours.Attend and complete a three week-long orientation academy.Successfully complete in-service education and training.Qualify annually with departmental issued service weapon.Operate and maintain commercial vehicles.Communicate effectively and follow all directives.Learn and apply departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.Apply online or in person at the Okmulgee County Criminal Justice Authority located at 315 West 8th street, Okmulgee, OK. 74447.Job Type: Full-timePay: $24.00 - $33.91 per hourExpected hours: No less than 40 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Retirement plan</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Application Question(s):<ul><li>Do you possess a Full-Time CLEET certification?</li></ul>Work Location: In person
