<div>SUMMARY

The Human Resource Associate at Old North State Trust supports the full employee experience&mdash;from recruitment and onboarding to benefits, compliance, and culture initiatives&mdash;while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and alignment with the company&rsquo;s values. This role helps foster a workplace grounded in integrity, kindness, and teamwork, contributing to ONST&rsquo;s commitment to generational success and strong relationships. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
<ul>
<li>Talent Acquisition &amp; Onboarding</li>
<li>Recruit and hire for both administrative and fiduciary positions (trust officers, portfolio managers, compliance staff, etc.).</li>
<li>Build up and foster ONST presence for employee recruitment.</li>
<li>Conduct background checks, fingerprinting, and reference verifications.</li>
<li>Draft offer letters and employment agreements.</li>
<li>Coordinate and actively participate in onboarding and orientation (systems access, policies, benefits enrollment).</li>
<li>Ensure staff understand Employee handbooks to include confidentiality, and compliance expectations.</li>
<li>Post and mange open positions on Bamboo HR and other hiring platforms.</li>
<li>Lead as hiring manage for all ONST positions.</li>
<li>Recruit and hire for both administrative and fiduciary positions (trust officers, portfolio managers, compliance staff, etc.)</li></ul> 


 Employee Relations &amp; Culture
<ul>
<li>Act as a liaison between management and employees.</li>
<li>Support healthy communication and conflict resolution.</li>
<li>Administer and oversee performance reviews and feedback processes.</li>
<li>Reinforce company values and professional standards (e.g., integrity, trust, and client focus) by 100% participation in companywide meetings etc.</li>
<li>Create and coordinate employee engagement, recognition, and wellness initiatives.</li>
<li>Stay attuned to work trends within the industry, acting as a liaison between management and employees.</li></ul> 


 Compliance &amp; Regulatory Requirements
<ul>
<li>Maintain tracking of employee licensing, certifications, and continuing education (trust officer training, fiduciary law updates, etc.)</li>
<li>Support compliance audits related to HR (e.g., personnel files, training logs)</li>
<li>Manage personal file retention and confidentiality per financial industry regulations.</li>
<li>Ensure adherence to Federal, State, and employment laws.</li></ul> 


 Compensation &amp; Benefits
<ul>
<li>Manage Bamboo HR system</li>
<li>Work with ONST Team members regarding payroll and benefits.</li>
<li>Administering benefit programs (health, dental, 401(k), disability, etc.)</li>
<li>Oversee Employee Performance reviews.</li>
<li>Conduct compensation benchmarking within the financial service industry.</li></ul> 


 Training &amp; Development
<ul>
<li>Develop and over-see training programs for professional growth of employee base including internships.</li>
<li>Coordinate and manage initiatives regarding mentorships.</li>
<li>Coordinate and manage continuing education for CFPs, CFAs, CTFA&rsquo;s, or other company recognized designations.</li></ul> 


 Policy, Risk, &amp; Governance
<ul>
<li>Maintain employee handbook.</li>
<li>Support Compliance Officer with HR-related matters to include policies and documents.</li>
<li>Oversee employee disciplinary actions in alignment with company ethics and regulations.</li>
<li>Report on HR metrics to Leadership Team. (e.g., turnover, engagement).</li></ul> 


 Offboarding &amp; Transitions
<ul>
<li>Conduct in person terminations.</li>
<li>Conduct exit interviews.</li>
<li>Ensure return of company property and termination of system access.</li>
<li>Point of contact for benefits after end of employment. (COBRA, retirement plans).</li>
<li>Respond to inquiries related to offboarding (ex. Department Employment Security).</li>
<li>Document departures for audit and regulatory purposes.</li></ul> 


QUALIFICATIONS

<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).</li>
<li>3+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably within financial services, professional services, or a trust company environment.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Proficient in HR software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity. &middot; PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.</li></ul>

WORK ENVIRONMENT

WORK HOURS
<ul><li>This position is a full-time position working standard ONST business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.</li></ul>
<ul><li>This position is generally a five-day work week.</li></ul>
