<p>
As an Assistant Engineer at Olsson, you will support a variety of routine engineering tasks that enhance your technical knowledge and familiarity with industry practices, tools, and team collaboration. This entry-level role contributes to the development of purposeful, high-quality design solutions that address real-world engineering challenges, particularly in the railroad sector.</p>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:</b></h3>
<ul><li>Assist with project design elements using standard techniques and established methods.</li>
<li>Perform entry-level plan production with clearly defined instructions.</li>
<li>Gain experience working within design and modeling software.</li>
<li>Support senior staff with project schedules and technical engineering calculations.</li>
<li>Contribute to limited portions of broader projects under direct supervision.</li>
<li>Gather and prepare research for technical reports.</li>
<li>Provide mentoring to student interns by answering questions and guiding routine assignments.</li>
<li>Travel and work in various terrain and weather conditions at project sites in different construction stages.</li>
</ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Qualifications</b></h2>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>You bring to the team:</b></h3>
<ul><li>Strong communication skills</li>
<li>Ability to contribute and work well on a team</li>
<li>Bachelor's degree in engineering</li>
<li>Must possess or obtain Engineer Intern certificate (EI)</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail</li>
<li>Survey and/or structure design background preferred</li>
<li>Experience in MicroStation, Risa 3D analysis, and Bluebeam Revu preferred</li>
</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Expectations:</b></h3>
<ul><li>Adept in verbal and written communication</li>
<li>Solid interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills</li>
<li>Ability to diligently research applicable requirements and regulations</li>
<li>Advanced mathematical and analytical abilities</li>
<li>Working knowledge (or ability to become proficient) in applicable technologies</li>
<li>Understands their role in quality management</li>
<li>Develops an understanding of how the firm operates as a consulting business and how this role contributes to its success</li>
<li>Holds a valid driver's license and maintains a good driving history</li>
<li>Willingness to work a flexible schedule</li>
<li>Represents Olsson in a professional manner at all times</li>
