 Job Description
 
 
 
 
 General Functions:
 
 
 
 This is educational work assisting a teacher in providing a learning experience in a conducive environment.
 
 
 This position assists in developing, planning and conducting education, developmentally appropriate activities, assessing educational needs, establishing learning goals and preparing lesson plans. General supervision is received from a higher grade employee and is reviewed for achievement of desired results. This position requires physical fitness and includes a variety of activities such as running, ability to move quickly, playing and being actively involved with children. It also includes bending, stooping, and sitting at children's level.

 Teacher Assistant

 Assists in developing, planning, and conducting educational developmentally appropriate activities for three to five year olds.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists in creating a warm, safe environment with appropriate teacher/child interactions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists in all areas of classroom/center duties and shares responsibility of curriculum and activities implementation.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintains effective communication with parents and maintains children's confidential files.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists the teacher with home visitations
 </li>
 <li>
 Assists with Kitchen and Bus Duty.
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications:
 
 
 
 Teacher Assistant
 
 
 
 Head Start
 
 - Associate Degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Pre-Kindergarten/Primary Education;
 
 
 
 Or
 
 
 
 Associate Degree from an accredited institution in a related field as defined by the Head Start Division and 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Education;
 
 
 
 Or
 
 
 
 Graduation from high school or equivalent and possess a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
 
 
 Teacher's Aide
 
 
 Graduation from high school or equivalent and six months experience in child care, either in Kindergarten, Head Start, a preschool or child care facility.
 
 
 Required to possess a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within eighteen months of employment.
 
 
 Successful completion of the Department of Children &amp; Family 45 hour State mandated Child Care courses or must enroll in these courses within 90 days of hire and must successfully complete the courses within 1 year of hire.

 Pay Grade: 011 - From $18.45 to $20.53

 Pay Grade 010 - From $17.57 to $19.55

 Educational Requirements

If you have obtained education from a country other than the United States, your degree or diploma must be evaluated to determine the United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES) or the Association of International Credentials Evaluations (AICE) at your expense.
