Summary:
Responsible for providing high level life insurance and long-term care underwriting expertise during the pre-sales and new business process. The candidate will provide directions on ordering medical records, assist with carrier selection, summarize medical records, create cover letters, evaluate carrier offers, negotiate offers with the carriers, and provide informal underwriting opinions to SVPs, marketing staff, and brokers. The candidate will also mentor less experienced personnel. Position requires high-level understanding of the life insurance process, medical, non-medical and financial risk selection, and reinsurance expertise.
Education Requirements:
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred. Minimum of Associate&rsquo;s degree or equivalent is required. High school diploma (or equivalent) in combination with significant practical experience will be considered in lieu of degree.</li><li>

</li></ul>Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Underwriting Direction:<ul><li>
Review applications, examinations, and medical records as requested by the case manager to ensure all appropriate medical records have been ordered.</li><li>
Review medical records as needed to identify any potential underwriting issues and offer an opinion on the underwriting outcome.</li><li>
Summarize complex medical history for submission to carriers.</li><li>
Thorough understanding of Jumbo case &amp; facultative reinsurance underwriting</li><li>
Evaluate underwriting evidence and provide guidance on cases approved.</li><li>
Assist with and create cover letters.</li><li>
Assist in maintaining underwriting data and underwriting resources.</li><li>
Develop training and mentorship for underwriting associates and case managers.</li><li>
Partner with sales as key customer connection into HCB.</li><li>
Market your value to VIP customers as appropriate to strengthen key customer relationships.</li><li>
Meet with customers on field visits to promote HCB underwriting value as a differentiator.</li><li>
Review email, phone or web submitted inquiries from brokers and provide underwriting guidance.</li></ul></li></ul><ul><li>
Monitoring and Communication:<ul><li>
Maintain correspondence with carriers and brokers by telephone, fax, letter or email.</li><li>
Notify broker, Sales Vice President, and case manager of underwriting opinion.</li><li>
Utilize data management systems per Highland Capital protocols to ensure accurate reporting.</li><li>
Work with internal sales resources as needed so as to properly position cases.</li><li>
Negotiate carrier offers where appropriate to ensure that optimal underwriting class is being received.</li></ul></li></ul>
Basic Requirements:
<ul><li>Minimum of 15 years Life Underwriting experience.</li><li>
Prior Life Insurance Brokerage or Life Insurance Company experience.</li><li>
Possess a well-versed knowledge of medical terminology, medicine, medical science and symptomology, non-medical and financial risk selection methodologies, MIB, legal and regulatory limitations, contractual provisions, products, morbidity and mortality, underwriting guidelines, manuals, and operating systems.</li><li>
Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills; attention to detail with the ability to quickly identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances of events.</li><li>
Excellent communication (verbal and written), team building, strong interpersonal and customer engagement, and negotiation skills.</li><li>
Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.</li><li>
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/industry trends. Collaborates with UW leadership to evaluate new trends and developments for possible current and future solutions.</li><li>
Mentors underwriting team members and serves as a subject matter expert in one or more financial and/or medical topics related to underwriting and risk assessment; conducts trainings and/or prepares written documentation in field of expertise.</li><li>
Negotiates sensitive, high-impact underwriting decisions with key distribution partners.</li><li>
High degree of confidentiality.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Industry designations (i.e. FLMI, ALU, CLU, ChFC, CFP, etc.) are a plus</li><li>

Summary:
Ladenburg Thalmann Asset Management (LTAM), a member of Osaic, is a registered investment advisor with over $7 billion assets under management. We are seeking a dedicated self-starter to add to the Asset Management team as a Trading and Operations Associate. Candidates must be extremely detail oriented with exceptional communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Trading Tasks<ul><li>
Actively trade and rebalance the model portfolios comprised of ETFs and mutual funds</li><li>
Generate orders in accounts using various systems</li><li>
Monitor concentration percentages of each fund for trading and risk management</li><li>
Monitor cash flows in accounts and execute trades accordingly</li><li>
Answer advisors&rsquo; questions on all trading activity, market analysis and portfolio rebalancing</li><li>
Verify previous day&rsquo;s trades</li><li>
Invest new accounts and track dollar cost averaging schedule for partially invested accounts</li><li>
Track and monitor accounts with systematic withdrawals, restricted positions, pending distributions and any other exceptions</li><li>
Receive and process all account servicing forms for certain platforms (withdrawals, beneficiary updates, address changes)</li></ul><ul><li>
Review the firm&rsquo;s five strategic asset allocation for adjustments to the portfolios along with the investment policy committee</li><li>
Create dispersion report for accounts with restrictions</li><li>
Provide updated model allocations to appropriate platforms and verify changes have been made</li><li>
All other duties as assigned</li></ul>
Operational Tasks<ul><li>
Account servicing tasks such as processing withdrawals, beneficiary updates, address changes, etc.</li><li>
Establishing accounts on Black Diamond and various custodial platforms</li><li>
Monitoring cash flows in accounts and trade and bill accordingly</li><li>
Preparing assets under management, projected revenue and profitability reports for executives</li></ul>
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree is required.
Basic Requirements:
<ul><li>2-5 years&rsquo; experience in a similar professional capacity</li><li>
Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>
Dedicated work ethic and strong organizational skills</li><li>
Willingness to work extended hours in order to meet project deadlines</li><li>
Ability to work independently with little or no direction</li><li>
Must possess excellent computer skills and be proficient using Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.</li></ul>
