Senior Software Developer &ndash; Financial SystemsOverviewOur client is a buy-side financial firm seeking a Senior Software Developer to design and build core systems supporting trading, deal execution, funding, and operational workflows. This is a hands-on engineering role with direct responsibility for building and maintaining business-critical applications used by investment and operations teams.The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor with deep technical fundamentals, exposure to financial systems, and the judgment to build reliable, maintainable platforms in a high-stakes environment.The role is fully onsite (5 days a week) in our NYC office, offering strong day-to-day collaboration, team alignment and effective delivery with the trading and engineering teams.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Design, implement, and maintain core platforms supporting deal lifecycle management, funding workflows, trade execution, and position management</li><li>Build and support firm and market data platforms, analytics, and reporting systems</li><li>Develop backend services, APIs, and data pipelines integrated with third-party vendors and market data providers</li><li>Own systems end-to-end, including design, delivery, and production support</li><li>Work directly with business stakeholders to translate workflows into technical solutions</li><li>Make pragmatic architecture decisions across greenfield development and system modernization</li><li>Contribute to engineering best practices around testing, reliability, and code quality</li></ul>Required Experience<ul><li>7&ndash;10 years of professional software development experience</li><li>Prior experience with financial systems such as trading platforms, position management, risk, treasury, fund administration, or fintech solutions</li><li>Experience building or supporting business-critical applications where uptime and data integrity matter</li><li>Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of ownership and accountability</li></ul>Technical Profile<ul><li>Strong software engineering fundamentals (OO and/or functional programming)</li><li>Proficiency in at least one enterprise language such as C#, Java, Scala, F#, or Python</li><li>Experience designing and working with APIs and distributed systems</li><li>Comfortable working across business logic, data layers, and infrastructure</li><li>Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code</li></ul>Preferred (Not Mandatory)<ul><li>Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)</li><li>Full-stack exposure (backend services, APIs, front-end UI)</li><li>Data engineering experience (ETL, pipelines, vendor and market data feeds)</li><li>DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and monitoring</li><li>Business analysis or requirements translation experience</li></ul>Financial Domain Expectations<ul><li>Ability to explain basic financial instruments (equities, bonds, options, swaps)</li><li>Familiarity with trade lifecycles and position management concepts</li><li>Comfort engaging in business discussions and learning new financial concepts</li></ul>Candidate Characteristics<ul><li>Strong problem-solving skills and disciplined engineering mindset</li><li>Comfortable working in ambiguous environments</li><li>High attention to detail and system correctness</li><li>Able to work independently while collaborating closely with business and technology teams</li><li>Demonstrated intellectual curiosity through side projects, open-source work, or ongoing learning</li><li>Familiarity with or interest in AI-assisted development tools</li></ul>As part of the process, we ask candidates to share their current compensation and target expectations to ensure alignment on both sides.Pay: $175,000.00 per yearExperience:<ul><li>Software development: 7 years (Required)</li><li>Financial/Securities software: 7 years (Required)</li></ul>Ability to Commute:<ul><li>New York, NY 10036 (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
